Man arrested for shooting, injuring officer during drugs arrest

By The Nation

A man was arrested for shooting and injuring a policeman while resisting arrest after he allegedly delivered a small amount of methamphetamine pills to an undercover policeman in Kamphaeng Phet’s Klong Kloong district on Saturday.

Sorasit Chantho, 20, was arrested at 10am after police surrounded a field in which he was hiding for about four hours.

He was charged with shooting a homemade sawn-off shotgun at Pol Corporal Wasant Robkob, allegedly hitting him in his right hand and right hip.

Police said the shooting occurred at 6am when Wasant and other officers attempted to arrest Sorasit after he delivered 20 methamphetamine pills to an undercover officer beside a road in Moo 3 village in Tambon Hua Thanon.

After firing at the policeman, Sorasit ran for about 100 metres and hid in a field of tall grass field before eventually surrendering. He said he fired his gun because he was frightened and did not intend to harm anyone.

No! Off course shooting with a gun, is never intented to hurt someone.

The very sad part, the person aimed a gun at cops, fired wounding a cop, and will probably get off with a 500THB fine, a wai, and nothing else for his "gun play".

Selling drugs is a different story, probabily some prison time.

If I was the court, he would be a guest of a prison for at least 20 years. Sorry no reduction for admitting guilt about shooting the cop. ( Check / read article 44 )

......That is, if found guilty......
