webfact
Officials arrest 17 as they try to return to Cambodia By Chatchawan Sopapan The Nation Authorities have arrested 17 Cambodians as they were allegedly trying to sneak out of Thailand on Sunday morning. The 17 were seen in a forest zone near the border in Sa Kaew province. Officials said the Cambodians did not have passports or travel documents. “They confessed to having worked illegally in Thailand for some time. But out of concern about the crackdown on illegal workers, their employers in Chon Buri and Nakhon Pathom told them to leave,” an official said. The illegal migrants travelled towards the border province in cars so officials at checkpoints, who usually focused on pickups, did not search their vehicles. However, they were arrested at the border. Sa Kaew immigration officials have blacklisted the 17, who will be deported.
