The overflowing Yom River in Phichit province has inundated residential homes and some tourist attractions including Wat Si Sattharam’s “Crocodile Ubosot” in Sam Ngam district on Sunday.

The all-white Ubosot, uniquely featuring statues of crocodiles – two on the main stairway and 20 more around the building – was under 20cm-deep water, causing inconvenience to visitors.

The Phichit Disaster Prevention and Mitigation office reported that 274 villages in eight districts in this lower northern province were hit by flooding. The office said 11,476 households and 50,118 rai of farmland had been impacted and 12 people had been killed in the recent floods.
