It's an Indian thing, but has a very special, very strong, taste and is great with lots of things.

Bread and cheese comes to mind.

Patak's is good, but as limes are very available here I thought maybe it's possible to buy locally made somewhere.

Having said that it's actually not available in many Indian restaurants here.

Thought about making it but rather buy from some secret little market stall.....

There is a small store that carries Indian products - A & M I believe. They should have lime pickle though it is likely to be spiced.

For an adventure try making your own . Cut limes in half, pack in a whole lot of salt, and keep in the sun. Maybe a month..

I am sure the net will have more info.

As someone else has said, it is available in Makro if you have one up there.

FYI, there is a new MAKRO shop in CM, opened a month ago.  Located on Siri Mangkalajarn Road, about 200 meters south of Green Palace hotel.  Somewhat smaller than those along the big hiways, but has plenty of stuff.  IMO, they do need a better ventilation system as the fish and durian smells are strong.
