BANGKOK — For illegally stockpiling more than 120 tons of fireworks just down the road from Bangkok’s City Hall, a company is facing a hefty fine of 1,000 baht, police said Thursday.

Military and police officers raided three shophouses in a residential area along Bamrung Muang Road on Wednesday and found boxes of unregistered firecrackers. They estimated the stockpile weighed over 120,000 kilograms.

Can you arrange a payment plan, to spread it over several months, or do you have to pay  the HEFTY sum in one go ? :cheesy: :cheesy:

Maybe if they confess, the “hefty” fine will be reduced by half.

I had a motor accident with a Thai motorcyclist. The guy only had one leg. The other was false. The police decided he was in the wrong and wanted to fine him 1400 Baht but decided not to cuz he was so poor. May be these firework hoarders can plead poverty and get the fine quashed also?

Good thing they were not smoking on the beach!!!! where on earth do the powers that be get their logic????

Wow! That'll make 'em think tw ... on ... What am I saying?

Thailand's answer to Guy Fawkes. Near City Hall as well. Baht 1000. That should put a stop to gunpowder plots.:saai:

They estimated the stockpile weighed over 120,000 kilograms.

Which would make it 120 tonnes and not 120 tons, dumbos!

What the heck, That much black powder stacked in a public neighbourhood is an accident waiting to happen.

Well it is not as if the fireworks had gone off.
