Air Bag Problem.

Featured Replies

My ISUZU when started and driven keeps showing the air bag symbol illuminated all the time. The car was purchased from new and never been in an accident.

Obvious answer is to take it to a ISUZU garage, nearest one is in Mukdahan for me but rather than go to great expense any one got ideas.

Should add the car is 14 years old now, well maintained and running well with just this niggling problem if it is one.

Probably a broken wire somewhere. Or a sensor has given up the ghost. Izusu most likely can plug in their computer, read yours, and find the problem quickly. If the warning light is illuminated, the system is disabled to prevent accidental inflation.

Independent garage might not be so well equipped.

Isuzu has had recalls for airbags. That warning light is to tell you something is wrong. Take it to an Isuzu main agent, your ride could be on the recall list and cost you nothing.

You don't want that thing blowing up in your face...

Ok guys, your right and thanks for the quick response. Next friday is my 90 trip to Lao so will drop it off then. Don't use it much so it can wait.

Let us know how much the sensor costs, if that is the problem. My civic sensor went years ago, but the dealer wanted 17k for it.

You could probably find an Isuzu site to enter the VIN# & check for a recall ..... Either way don't mess with it - get it diag'd & fixed......

Will do next Friday or Saturday.

Also, my honda was recalled recently for its takata airbag fix/replacement. Unfortunately, this didn't cover the sensor. That went out years ago and due to the cost, never got it fixed. Good luck and hope it's not expensive. It may also be possible to get one from a wrecking yard if the cost of a new one is too much. Hopefully its just a loose wire and not a sensor.

Our lad just bought a s/h 2010 Civic, l noticed the airbag light was on, did a search and his ride was on the naughty list but seems the previous owner ignored it. Took it back to the dealer, they had it two days to get it fixed.

do you know the price of fixing? I see there are honda airbag sensors available from the US for less than 100 dollars. I don't know honda here can change 17K baht for it.

Cost him nothing cos he had just bought it with a ploblem..Whether they took it to Honda OR fooled with the wiring I don't know..

There is a "fix" on YouTube with a bit of wire to show how to turn the warning light off...

I know a woman in a hospital near you recovering from a head on smash caused by an overtaking car pulling out from behind a truck straight into her. Broken knee cap, leg and other stuff. A very lucky girl as the car caught fire. She was trapped inside and quick thinking onlookers put the fire out

Her ex husband had previously pranged and fixed the car. To save money he didn't have the airbags replaced.

I'll be checking for airbags if I ever buy a 2nd hand car in the future.

For sure I don't know if the lads ride has been fixed by Honda, BUT, if I had not said to the lad and mum..."TAKE THE CAR BACK'.....grrrrr....They would have been perfectly OK with the dash warning light being on...sad-face.gif.04635f41594e7e1c72d896400be008d3.gif

If she was lucky she’d a stayed home that day...

Most common problems causing airbag light to stay on: broken spiral cable sensor inside the steering wheel and issues with belt tentioner wiring. Sensors etc are more or less reliable. Run a diagnostic check on it, 2-3 hour job.
