snoop1130 Posted December 4, 2017 Posted December 4, 2017 Students demand school official resigns after sports day cut short About 300 students at Mukdahan Witthayanukul School in Mukdahan’s Muang district on Monday gathered to protest against a deputy director’s order on Saturday to abruptly cancel their sports day while activities were underway. They also demanded that the deputy director, who is now acting director, resign. They gathered in the basement of the school after the deputy director, whose name has not been revealed, ended the sports day early on Saturday despite the fact that it had not yet finished. The ceremony to award the trophies was postponed and he refused to give a reason for his decision. The students refused to return to their classes and demanded his superiors investigate the issue. The protest, in which students used megaphones while criticising the deputy director, continued for hours while the deputy director remained in his room. He later told reporters that the sports day started on Thursday and was scheduled to end Saturday. However, he ordered the closure after seeing that it was getting dark fearing that students would encounter difficulties in returning home. “I was concerned for the students’ safety,” he said. dinsdale Posted December 5, 2017 Posted December 5, 2017 Funny looking basement. Also it's daytime. Not getting dark. Something's got under his skin and this is just typical childish over-reaction.
