Does anyone know of a professional tile cleaning service in Chiang Mai.... do they even exist... like the carpet cleaning companies back in the UK?

I ask, because we just build a new house, and our indoor floor tiles are covered in paint, clear oil stuff, wood stain, varnish... etc, from the very messy decorators.  We have got most of the paint off easily enough, but can't seem to get rid of the shiny oil like patches or the teak/wood stain when came off the doors.

Or, any tips how to clean the tiles?  I was worried about using strong solvents, in case they damage the tiles.  The tiles are stone matt effect... not the shiny ones.

Thank you for any help.

You should have had the decorators clean up after them,

to your satisfaction,then pay them.

If the tiles are matt you are going to have a hell of a job

cleaning them,if at all,as you say its wood stain, its been

absorbed into the tiles.no they are no specialist cleaners

of tiles here, try some solvent on a very small patch to see

what happens, Good luck.

Are the tiles water proof or are they porous? One would assume water proof but...

Just a question of finding the correct thinner for the stain. Unless the tiles are porous in which case your decorator has stained your tiles!

Wood stain is near enough impossible to get off tiles !

There are all sorts of ideas on the net to remove it , you would need to try each one on a very small patch to see if they work.

Thanks

The decorators were very bad.  We covered all the tiles on the floor with cardboard, but the lazy stupid idiots just moved, kicked it out the way and did not replace it.

Had a go at them... they came back to take the sticky tape they covered the metal window frames... which was the last straw.... as it was not masking tape, so it stuck to the window frames and then they used a solvent to get it off... and a cleaning pad.. which took off the paint and covered the frames in scratches!!

So you can see why I don't ever want to see them back at the house... and would not trust them to clean the mess they made of the tiles.

I am going to try some acetone on a small area of tile to see if they helps.

Thanks for the advise.

Now go buy more tile like the stained stuff before there is no more. You will be needing it.

Agree with this. If you don't quickly go out and get more tiles to match, you will never find them again. It's like everything here, for some reason they discontinue a pattern or color after a few batches from factories and never produce them again. I can't remember how many hours of wasted time we have spent trying to match floor tiles, wall tiles in the bathroom, sets of dishes, you name it. Makes no sense.

Years ago I decided to buy no expensive, fancy tiles anymore because Thai tilers will ruin it all ...
In any case I use expensive decoration stuff today I do the work myself. No other choice.

You just do not know any good installers. Saying all Thai tile people will ruin them is like saying all TV posters are arrogant and ignorant.

Altho'  - if asked for a percentage in both areas who were, I know where my vote would go ...
