Most Thai university graduates do not speak English well.  You do know that Thai universities teach almost exclusively in Thai, do you not?  Unless they're English majors, university education does not equal proficiency in English.  There are a tiny number who obtained their postgraduate degrees overseas, but again, they're largely not seeking farangs.

Thank you so much for your insight.  You are correct , my wife was an English major.  Like I said, we are all here for different reasons, I'm sure you have deeply intelligent conversations while in the beer bar. And you always have the option to barfine her and carry the discussion on at your rented room.

As for long vs short time, if you found one that was really amazing, you would want to have her around for more than a session, I think. 

 

Language is important, but for the sake of argument, I am talking about pure looks. 

I remember a fairly young guy with a lot of money. He used to find a nice looking BG/cashier and spend time fixing them up until they were knockouts. That was his thing. They were always attractive to start with, but the clothes and makeup made a huge difference.  He would spend a year or two with the same girl and then start over with a new one.

ha ha - I think they call that a housekeeper or maid with privileges maybe... ever practical there Nancy - law of marginal utility and all, where do you get the most use for your dollar... but from my view of life, not only is beauty in the eye of the beholder, but in the disposition of the person. Having a smiling, happy to be there with you companion is much more pleasant and more beautiful than a pretty face with a forced smile waiting for pay day...

I may have misread the OP but it didn't seem like he was looking for such a woman. He seemed to me to just be curious about how this type of pairing comes about.

 

I think it is also very subjective as to what women people consider beautiful. Although I am not particularly attracted to Asian women I see plenty of beautiful Thai women in all walks of Thai society. And I am not talking about women with a lot of makeup, surgery, or whatever.

 

However, I rarely see what I would call a stunningly beautiful Thai woman. Basically a woman that would lead me to do more than a double take. A few weeks ago, for the first time in several years I saw such a woman in business class on a flight from TPE to BKK. She was absolutely beautiful and it was difficult not to stare. She was not wearing a lot of makeup and her expensive clothes were understated. She seemed to be accompanied by a handler so I assume she was an actress or celebrity of some type.

 

But in any case I cannot recall seeing such beautiful Thai women hanging around with Westerners.

However, as I said, use some imagination; how could you possibly benefit from a good story, a believing lovely young lady and a swanky hotel suite. You could even arrange some photo shoots and, if good enough, may find her a job.

NancyL -- I am not talking about an "escort." This man and woman (and others I have seen along the way) appeared to me to be "a couple" and in it for the long haul. At any rate, let's assume that. 

As I said at the outset, it's not about how to keep a woman who is 35 years your junior and eight grades higher in looks than you ever were (even 35 years ago), it's about where such a woman could be found. I mean do you keep your eyes open in the supermarket and walk up and make a stone-cold introduction, hoping she doesn't think you are a weirded-out farang? 

Or do you tip the Amazon Coffee girl 1,000 baht for giving you an extra sugar packet? 

 

The nut of the question here is that if you take bargirls, freelancers and the like off the table (so to speak), where and how would a 65-75 year old man get ahold of such a person. 

 

I like the clubbing answer; I think it has merit, but at the same time it's a bit of an oxymoron to think of a geezer in a club with young, virile women. More so if the idea is for the man to meet and create a relationship with one of them. 

 

By the way, I do agree that most "catches" here for long term relationships entail pretty average looking women (and as many again sub-par looking). But there are exceptions. A few of the avatars on ThaiVisa, assuming they are not fake, show some pretty nice looking females with some pretty decrepit males. The kind of thing that would make life less fun for the dirty looks and comments you'd get if you lived in England or America. 

They seem to be rather quiet, or haven't seen the thread....

They were in a supermarket!  Were they holding hands and cuddling up to each other or could there have been a more non sexual reason for them being there together either thru relations or business etc.
