  • Tony Blair wants to shut up, he did enough damage to the UK when he was PM.  No he is trying to do the same.  Britain out of the EU he will probably lose out on a bit of cash.

O.K I realise it’s only from a small sample. But from reading these Brexit threads, I notice that two people who did not vote for Brexit in the 2016, now say that should there be a 2nd referendum, they would NOW vote to escape this so called Union.

Interesting map. The Swiss have never been known for foolishness, and Norway probably doesn't want to have to give all it's Nth Sea oil money to a bunch of wasters.

I hope you don't eat cheap eggs then. Factory farming is an abomination whatever animal is subjected to it.

Ask yourself this: is Blair stupid? Is he a fool?

Not many bright people in the Brexit camp now are there? Why is that?

I'll tell you: because the bright are more likely to have achieved more, to have "done better" if you like. They are far less dissatisfied and more likely to opt for the status quo ante ?

If that means you are calling Blair bright then that's as farcical as you calling EU leavers uneducated.

I didn't say he was right but he's certainly bright. As for Brexiters in general, what do you want me to say?

Exactly. We can do better than support the ill treatment of animals. Why do people want to import cheaper food? Do they have any idea?

Do you have any 'pictures of words' not in CAPS?

"Why do people want to import cheaper food?"

Rather an obvious question I would have thought? A bit like asking why people want more money!

Would you just have the pictures

Sometimes you can't reduce the size of the text - at least I've tried sometimes and can't do it!

He's as bright as a black hole. He was lucky to get a seat in the first place - and just at the right time - probably the start of his "sucking up" campaign!

Are you being deliberately obtuse? Driving down food prices is driving down animal welfare. I for one would happily pay more for my food if the production was more humane.

And that's just one example. I don't want cheap consumer products built by slaves

Wake up!

You can beat your drum all you like if it makes you feel better but you are on a hiding to nothing

I know who needs to wake up here

I have stood and witnessed piglets having their teeth removed and not by a dentist

De-beaking of battery hens I took in my stride, as I did the 30-40 Kg  turkeys that could not stand up because of the cramped conditions they had been reared in

None of the things I witnessed made me want to become a veggie

Economics will always rule for the vast majority like it or not

This is getting off topic

However, we live in different worlds. I can afford to have my food reared humanely. Sorry you are so desperate.

I prefer to live in civilised countries.

Wake up!

Obtuse? Don't be ridiculous! Do you even know the meaning of the word? :-

"annoyingly insensitive or slow to understand."

I am being neither insensitive, or slow to understand - I am merely stating the obvious, and I don't need an animal welfare "expert" to tell me about inhumane animal breeding conditions - if anything, I agree with the suggestion that better conditions would mean a better quality product.

All I am saying is that your question wasn't too bright - in fact your reply to my comment  could be described as being deliberately obtuse. "Why do people want to import cheaper food?"

If someone can afford to buy top quality free range chicken eggs laid by chickens that have a comparatively luxurious lifestyle compared to their battery farm counterparts, then good luck to them. However, not everybody has the money to buy the best, and my comment was only stating that of course people want cheaper food, in the same way as they want cheaper TV's cheaper cars, cheaper houses - IT'S A NATURAL HUMAN TRAIT !

And you telling me to "wake up" doesn't alter that fact one iota, so get back on your pedestal and preach all you want, but human nature being what it is, the cost of the eggs will determine who buys them, and not whether they come from a happy or a sad chicken!
