Russian woman on Phi Phi not raped - she fell from hotel, say police

 

 

Reports on social media that a 28 year old Russian woman had been attacked and raped on Koh Phi Phi are false, local police have said.

 

There was no truth to the suggestion that was a misunderstanding after the alleged victim told a Russian friend to contact police.

 

Polina Shemiakina, a yoga teacher, had arrived on the holiday island with her mother for New Year. The pair had left their hotel then got back to their room on the third floor after midnight.

 

Polina wanted to go out again but her mother forbid it, Krabi police chief Pol Major -General Bunthawee Toraksa told Manager. 

 

But Polina sneaked out all the same and climbed down a rear pillar from the third floor room. But she fell to the base of the building seriously injuring herself.

 

She went to hospital on the island before mother and daughter traveled to Pangnga. When her condition deteriorated she went to hospital in Phuket.

 

Meanwhile she told a Russian friend who could speak English to contact police and tell them what happened. Due to a miscommunication and erroneous details in an online story police understood that the victim was claiming that she had been attacked and raped.

 

This was not the case, said Bunthawee putting the record straight yesterday. 

 

The Russians have apologized to police for the confusion and no charges have been made.

How amazing someone can misunderstand between a Fall and a Rape.....remember the guy who had a fall and claimed to police that he was beaten and raped I mean robbed...

What is the legal age in Russia when you become an adult Is it 58? That would be the first time i have ever heard a 28 year old take orders from her mum whether she could go out at night  Mum was prob dirty Daughter was getting more attention than her

She was obviously "hot to trot"! Maybe she would have gotten into even more trouble if she had not fallen.

This Russian womans, English speaking friend was likely not all fluent in English, and the Thais talking to the friend

only partly fluent as well, so of course there was confusion. The Mother likely only Russian speaking as well.

Since Mom probably paid the expenses for the trip, felt that midnight was late enough, but little daughter

wanted to party more and it cost her , her life

Sad to say RIP 28 is too young to die and so foolishly.

So she survived the fall, and then some time later went to the hospital?  That alone seems strange.  What were the time intervals involved?
