Phuket Beachs Umbrella and Tables Back

Recommended Posts

Seems a certain beach has taken liberties to again allow this .... what a horrible site ... about 200m from the

new Catch Beach Club at Bangtao beach ... taken yesterday saturday 20th January 2018 ......

I wonder what the authorities will do about this now - assuming a lot of brown paper envelopes changing hands ...

Yes, Ma'am territory.

This guy is amazing in a crazy way. Eartquakes come and go but he is still in power. Wonder who is his big wick back up.

They are now beach umbrellas and seats for rent operating in designated area in most beaches,  Patong,  Naiharn I can remember in the last week I visited...

It's been a while like that.

Previously the beach club previously  always had tables & umbrellas on its property and your picture does not show how far the  tables and umbrellas now go.  If this wasn't for a specific event and if down to the public beach area, then yes, this is illegal. However, if the tables and umbrellas are still on the club land, it is permissible. Same issue as that recent nonsense of the tourist complaining about the Dusit and its protection of guests from trespassers.

No. There have been 2 rows of chairs since the crackdown. The OP is commenting on the recent over growth. Patong was 8 rows deep last week. With Thais more than most the "give an inch take a mile" saying is very appropriate.

kamala area for beach chairs is small,  ( only 3 areas, north and southern end  of Graveyard and near the sunwing resort) Compared to  the overgrowth before the police cleared them out...

drove past Patong beach yesterday, seems they removed half the chairs an umbrellas

If the tourists did not want them they would not be there, its obvious a service wanted by a lot of tourists, the same ones stopping in Hotels and resorts and better quality rented accommodation usually

We have used the ourselves when stopping on the beach for a swim, we only walk the dog on the beach now so its a service we no longer require

They did cost 200 to 300 baht to hire back then so i do not think the anonymous posters on this forum would rent them anyway , they want to rent a serviced room for 500 baht a night, the last of the cheap charlies who like to complain about the chinese not spending any money when here in Phuket, the same ones who whinge anonymously on this forum about being pulled over and fined for not wearing a helmet and having no license at a police checkpoint, easily fixed just wear a helmet and have the required license the same as you would in your home country where the fine would be 10 times what it costs you here, they even let you drive/ride away after paying the fine, try doing that in your home country

It used to be that if the tourists or visiting  Thais  wanted ANY shade at all , they had to hire umbrellas as the ( illegal ) Thai vendors had taken over the shady spots under the trees and built shanty restaurants that grew and grew , plus they  parked their jetskis and scooters  and Fortuners there. Fortunately the army came along and reclaimed the Kings land.

Now I see all types of people picnicking in the shade ...

Never had that problem at Nai Harn beach except at one time when the vendors took over the entire beach and the military removed the vendors and the illegal restaurants at the same time, there was still plenty of room under the trees behind the beach to sit in the shade even then

Plenty of room for everyone now on the beach,  including the vendors the last time i was there, Who wants to sit on the sand when you can hire 2 lounges and umbrellas to shade them for the day and you did get food and drink service as well for the princely sum of 300 Baht , not me and a lot of other people as well or they would not have allowed them back, 300 baht is under 10 USD

Just something else for anonymous foreigners to complain about on forums and in bars, haven't you got something better to do with your time

He has to be related to some  high up military in Bangkok, surely?

He's the new "Under Boss" of Phuket.

He is for sure 'connected' =  gives big pay offs to Bangkok high-ups.

As you know, there are around a dozen wealthy Thai families that control Phuket.  Some of them have have come to grief, after the coup.  Not in a major way, but still, some of their operations have been curtailed.

This guy continues, unabated.  I'm thinking he's "family" to someone high up in Bangkok, in order to get away with so much.

It's very noticeable that Phuket Governors tenure is becoming shorter and shorter.

They are obviously not please those high up in Bangkok - as not ringing up the till quick enough. That the most sad thing about Phuket's Wake.

Considering your post, what does that mean for the future?

Higher "tea money" to pay, raised through higher rents, passed onto consumers through higher accommodation, food and beverage prices.

Sounds like "the death rattle."

"Never had a problem on Nai Harn beach " ... oh , actually you  did.

Nai Harn has a huge green space behind it . Obviously  you never go anywhere , even much to your own beach ,  but let me assure you Patong or Kata or Kamala have much smaller shade spaces in comparison.

You mustn't have much to do ...moaning at people who make observations about your whingeing on Forums... lol

Been just about everywhere in Thailand sport and have seen all the beaches on phuket and Phangnga and Samui can you claim the same, Nai harns the best IMHO

Its not me whinging and complaining about the beaches its you, i like my preferred beach which is the cleanest of the popular beaches

You don't see tourists swimming in the sea usually at Patong just farangs who have no where else to swim, tourists swim in their resorts swimming pool which is clean and safe and has nothing in it that will bite or sting you and has no blind mullet in it as well

The previous guy only lasted 6 months before he was 44'd to Bangkok.

This one has made it past the 9th month mark.

I put his longevity down to the fact that he avoids the big issues and sticks to flower shows and boy scout jamborees.
