The Wall Street Journal recently recalled that the United States had repaid to Iran 1, 7 billion dollars for military contracts concluded under shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi remained unapplied.

The exact amount was always in dispute, but more importantly it could have been released slowly.  That is to test whether Iran would live up to the spirit of the deal.  Instead, Obama wanted to buy out the hostages.

Since then Iran has taken more American hostages.    Of course, they need more money. Their economy is falling apart. My solution is for Trump to start taking Iranian hostages and stick them in GB, Cuba.

Then we can negotiate for "swaps" like we did with the old USSR.

  • Go Trump - Full speed ahead.

  • Absolutely YES and a second term, if not President Trump then VP Pence for the second term.   The economy is doing well and Supreme Court choices to date are making America great again.

  • Trump will finish the term. Sit back and enjoy the ride.

Yes, taking Iranian hostages should work.   They hold the general citizens in such high regard.

Stock market is rebounding nicely. My money is on Trump.

Bet on Trump?  When he said he's a genius in a stable he didn't mean he was a race horse.  More of a demented donkey, or the confused nag that hobbles out of the gates in the wrong direction, blames every one else for his losing, but still loudly pushes his way into the winners enclosure, shouting how he deserves the prize while the losers who backed him are all trying to claim they have the winning ticket.

A useful tool for monitoring Trump's idiocracy.

The “new normal” of American politics is not normal. The Weekly List reminds us of that. On a weekly basis, the List tracks specific news stories representing eroding norms under the current regime. Taken together, they reveal a nation pushed towards authoritarianism, the wielding of unchecked governmental authority by one person or group at the expense of the freedom of those who oppose them.

Yep, Obama got the hostages out of Iran.  He paid off terrorists!!

What a wonderful accomplishment.  Obama sent billions to Iran and did they use it to help their people?  Nah, it was more important to "save" the Syrian dictator and arm the rebels in Yemen.

Trump got the hostages out of NK and paid .... wait for it... $0.0!

If you mean "trump" is creating the biggest and most corrupt swamp ever in the U.S., then, yeah, you're right.

Right, cozying up to autocrats, offending allies, constantly lying, driving the deficit through the roof, revealing highly classified foreign intelligence to Russia...oh wait, that's Trump.

But I do agree that the current POTUS needs to clean up his mess.

So the American tax payer's voted to make China Great Again. Saving jobs in China, go Trump Go!

WHY TRUMP SUDDENLY WANTS TO SAVE JOBS IN CHINA

This is a company that is considered a threat to US National Security.

So why is Trump suddenly diverting a department that works for the US Taxpayer to save jobs in a Chinese telecom company as Trump says "a personal favour to President Xi"?

This is a coincidence isn't it?

In yet another instance of potential impropriety by President Donald Trump, the Agence France-Presse reports that a Trump Organization project in Indonesia is being partially funded by the Chinese government – a fact well known to Trump prior to the 2016 presidential election.

A subsidiary of Chinese state-owned construction firm Metallurgical Corporation of China (MCC) signed a deal with Indonesia’s MNC Land to build a theme park outside Jakarta as part of the ambitious project, the company said on Thursday.

The park – expected to be backed with up to US$500 million in Chinese government loans – is part of an “integrated lifestyle resort”, known as MNC Lido City.

Included in the project are Trump-branded hotels, residences and a golf course, AFP reports, making MNC Lido City the first project to connect Trump’s business interests with the Chinese government’s massive infrastructure initiative.

Make America Grovel Again.

"The President's improving issue ratings come amid a sharp rise in positive impressions of how the country is doing. Overall, 57% say things are going well in the US today -- up from 49% saying the same in February -- which is the largest proportion to say so since January of 2007"

Public opinion is crucial for the mid-terms 2018 and for the Presidential Election in 2020. Most Americans are feeling good about how the country is going ,the highest in 11 years.

While many of us including me would like nothing more than to see the ridiculous corrupt demagogue "trump" kicked to the curb and back to his golden tower of dreck (or wherever) but here is a more sober analysis on where we're at now REALISTICALLY as far as impeachment --

WASHINGTON POSTIs there a danger in normalizing impeachment talk?

We currently lack a national, bipartisan consensus to remove Trump from office. Further, the risks of attempting a divisive impeachment at this moment are painfully high. The key question, in our view, is how best to restrain Trump and undo the damage he has caused to our democratic system. In answering that question, it is hardly self-evident — at least, at this point — that advocating impeachment is the savviest or most effective path forward.

Nixon was not impeached for illegally bombing Laos, but for a bungled cover-up of a burglary to give him an edge in the Presidential election.

Reagan illegally sold arms to Iran in order to get hostages released, then used the proceeds to illegally fund a war in Nicaragua.  No impeachment.  Bush Jr started a war on false pretenses and bungled both wars he got the US into.  No impeachment.  Under the pretext of investigating a real estate deal, Clinton was investigated for a consensual BJ in the Oval Office then impeached for denying this was sex.  He was impeached.

Sorry, but since Republicans are willing to impeach whenever it appeals to their base, then they've got to expect their presidents to start getting impeached when they commit major crimes.  If Trump was elected due to illegal foreign interference in the election, or is using the Presidency to enrich himself, or is simply so clueless and incompetent as to put the nation at risk, he should be impeached.

Let's hear it for that wonderful Republican Tax Plan! How's that "trickle down" working out for the average tax payer...um, it's not.

TRUMP’S TAX CUTS DIDN’T BENEFIT U.S. WORKERS, MADE RICH COMPANIES RICHER, ANALYSIS FINDS

Quote

But a new analysis of all Fortune 500 companies found only 4.3 percent of workers will receive a one-time bonus or wage increase tied to the business tax cuts, while businesses received nine times more in cuts than what they passed on to their workers, according to Americans for Tax Fairness, a political advocacy group devoted to tax reform. The analysis also found that companies spent 37 times as much on stock buybacks than they did on bonuses and increased wages for workers.

The chemicals have already been found in drinking water and groundwater at levels beyond what EPA says is safe near 126 U.S. military locations.

This is very old problem.  Most US military bases have been in place and used toxic fuels, solvents, munitions, etc. from a time long before Rachel Carson wrote "Silent Spring", bringing awareness to the fact that trace amounts of chemicals can have devastating long-term consequences to people and the environment.

Many people are still in denial of this fact.  It seems Trump and his base are full of people who deny accepted evidence of the consequences of pollution, ground water contamination, etc.  Cleaning up contaminated drinking water is an expensive, long-term project.  No doubt the administration would prefer to ignore it, thinking that, with a little luck, they'll be out of office before increasing cancer rates, birth defects, and child developmental issues make the news.

As you may have surmised, my list of grievances with the Trump administration includes its hostility to intelligent environmental regulation.  In part this is because I grew up in a pulp wood mill town, not a gold-plated penthouse.

That's your take from the linked article, eh? Mine is that he is repeating what reasonable people have said since the election. Dems need to produce a coherent policy, and not rely on just dissing 45.

I hope Trump does well with North Korea and brings them even moreso into the peaceful international community.  I wonder what they will have to offer.  NK-Pop,  food culture,  hidden technologies... We will see. For Trump to stop at this stage would be quite the anti climax.

Same old same old. When the economy is weak, right wingers say lower taxes. When the economy is strong right wingers say lower taxes. Lowering taxes is magic. It will pay for itself! That lie has repeatedly been exposed since the time of Reagan. But if you live in the right wing bubble, facts are something you don't have an opportunity to get acquainted with.

I agree about the coherent policy. I just hope it doesn't go to far left .American's aren't ready for socialism, otherwise B.Sanders would of won. Of course that's if they win !

Ummm, Bernie didn't run in the general election.

He wouldn't have won anyway, DT would have done a character assassination based on, uh, foreskin, 'protocols,' etc.

Just how stupid is this "trump" character?

HIV vs. HPV.

Pretty much any educated person knows they are not the same thing.

Especially a wealthy American that has been a promiscuous man slut for most of his life.

But this "trump" -- not only did he not know, he was told once, and had to ask again.

Bill Gates says that Trump asked him the difference between HIV and HPV

However, a tweet from MSNBC host Chris Hayes, whose program "All In With Chris Hayes" shared the footage, gives us a clue: "Bill Gates says that in *both* meetings he had with Trump, Trump asked if HPV and HIV were the same thing," tweeted Hayes.

Sounds like Trump needed reassurance. I guess he has HPV then.
