Dutch tourist's bag snatched in Bangkok

By The Nation

A Dutch tourist was robbed of her bag in front of a hotel in Bangkok’s Din Daeng district early Tuesday, police said.

Kim Voss, 36, was robbed by two men riding a motorcycle while she was walking in front of the Grand Mercure Bangkok Fortune on Ratchadaphisek Road at 2.20am, Pol Captain Akkarajet Wanjaeng, deputy inspector of Huai Khwang Police Station, said.

Voss said she was walking with her boyfriend when the motorcycle approached them and the pillion rider snatched her bag, which had Bt6,000 in cash and a smartphone.

A patrol police spotted the tourists and advised them to file a complaint at the Huai Khwang Police Station.

Akkarajet said police will check footage of security cameras in the area to try to locate the robbers seen fleeing towards the Asoke-Phetchaburi intersection.

It will not be a consolation for the Dutch lady, but that such an event is making it to the headlines, this actually shows how SAFE a City Bangkok otherwise is!
