Tony Henry sacked at West Ham

Featured Replies

For disparaging African players.

Is this the same Tony Henry that played for City, Bolton and Oldham? Wikipedia doesn't help. He has lost his hair and the Brotherhood of Man tache, but looks like the same bloke.

I remember him playing for Bolton v Newcastle in the early eighties in Division 2 and scoring 2 goals as we beat them 3-1. Keegan was in the Newcastle team and possibly Waddle as well. 10,000 Geordies left Burnden in tears.

Yes it's the same guy champers

From wiki:- https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tony_Henry_(footballer,_born_1957

After his retirement from football, Henry continued to work within the game as a scout. He was chief scout at Chelsea, Sunderland and then Everton, before taking up the role of Director of Player Recruitment at West Ham United in 2014.

When I looked 2 days ago Wikipedia only had his playing details. Perhaps recent events have led to an update.

If he has been at West Ham since 2014, he must be responsible for bringing in so many Aficans. That said, Big Sam always had a liking for African players. He thought they were good value for money.
