snoop1130 Posted February 12, 2018 Posted February 12, 2018 American claims self-defense as patron says man murdered in Pattaya was "trouble-maker" The investigation into the murder of an Australian man in a Pattaya bar on Friday has taken new turns. Earlier reports suggested that Benjamin Matthew Robb, 43, was beaten and kicked senseless as others egged on the attacker. He is Jose Manuel Polanco, 42, who has been charged with physical assault leading to death by the local police following the attack in the Ruby Club in Soi 6. Speaking on behalf of the Australian Pattaya station chief Pol Col Apichai Krobpetch said: "He admitted that he hit him three to four times but it was self-defence. Moments before the deceased had "picked up a waitress by grabbing her neck until her feet were up in the air. Jose saw that it was too aggressive and Robb was drunk, so he interfered." Reuters said that witnesses at scene agreed saying Matthew was drunk and was aggressive to a waitress, causing Polanco to interfere. A regular in the Ruby Club who didn't want to be named told Thaivisa that Robb often acted in an aggressive manner and was known by some to be a trouble maker. Thai media Daily News also reported in a headline that the attacker could not sit idly by and see a Thai woman hurt. But their report was at odds with other stories saying that the victim was floored with one punch. His head hit the ground killing him, they reported. They added that the American gave himself up after the incident on the same evening. Source: https://www.dailynews.co.th/regional/626898 -- © Copyright Thai Visa News 2018-2-12

Popular Post chickenslegs Posted February 12, 2018 Popular Post Posted February 12, 2018 Should be fairly easy for the pathologist to distinguish between the latest version "one punch knocking the victim to the floor" and the earlier reports of "10 to 15 kicks or stamps to the head". 25 1 4

Popular Post smedly Posted February 12, 2018 Popular Post Posted February 12, 2018 American claims self-defense as patron says man murdered in Pattaya was "trouble-maker" so I stomped on his head 20 times when he was unconscious on the floor just to make sure ......................... he was dead sorry <deleted> but you did what you did and now someone is dead by your actions, in the UK your mates would also be facing serious charges I advise Thai Police to get a full criminal profile on this psycho, my guess is the USA don't want him back and people living in pattaya would also not be too happy about this thug on the loose and that includes his scumbag mates who if not being charged should be escorted to the airport and banned from Thailand for life Thai police need to be seen to do the right thing here...................the local community and international media are following this very carefully 34 2 1

Really?? This is a new one, from an anonymous source, with absolutely no validation. I'm sure the "regular in the Ruby Club" is impartial. 4

Popular Post cornishcarlos Posted February 13, 2018 Popular Post Posted February 13, 2018 I think the initial reports might have been exaggerated a little bit... Now we are getting conflicting statements, although I believe in the original thread about this, there was mention that the Aussie started it all ? The fact that the American voluntarily went to the police, makes me think he didn't actually stamp on this guy 15-20 times. If that was the truth, then I think he would have done a runner over the border. Just my opinion, not fact.. I guess it will all come out eventually !! Maybe not... 8 1 1

Popular Post dotpoom Posted February 13, 2018 Popular Post Posted February 13, 2018 "He admitted that he hit him three to four times but it was self-defence." Whatever it was it was not "self defence"......... in defence of another ....maybe......but not self defence. The attacker was not being attacked himself? 8 1
cornishcarlos Posted February 13, 2018 Posted February 13, 2018 Plus, what's with the headline ?? He was not "murdered" until it was proven that he was murdered... 1

Very good point. If the latter version is true all the 10-15 stomp storytellers should be spanked. 1
