I am a older American living in Bangkok for almost 10 years!  I SPEND most of my money here, never caused any troubles, highly thought of, by locals around me!

Want to know why something can not be done to help the old with visa renewals? It is a entire day waiting for this, I am sick now and it is Very hard on me!  I have asked at immigration and they just smile! It is not funny for me I speak for more than one please do something to help us!  I feel it might kill me one day! I want peace and happiness, that's all!

At Chiang Mai Immigration ,if over 75 you can apply to be given

special service and have formalities completed quickly, this also

applies to the ill and infirm  ,is the same service not available

in Bangkok ?, also if you don't want to hang around all day at

Immigration, you can engage the services of a Visa agent,

who will expedite the process quickly, but at a price.

regards worgeordie

It is worth noting that when Thails smile, it is often because they are embarrassed by the situation, not because they think it's funny.

I thought they just wanted to show their teeth, like a dog can do when it gets angry.

At the immigration there are always those agents, also at the embassy...why not use those?

That has not been my experience.

Did look into paying for help, but was very expensive, 17,000 baht!

Unfortunately immigration procedures are a bane for everyone living here, things aren't likely to get easier.

If you're talking about extension of stay, this is a repeated procedure that has to be done around the same time each year. A good way to approach it is to write down step by step exactly what you have to prepare, and see if you can identify the specific problem areas you may have. This can be streamlined and repeated in subsequent years, and if there's any part of it that's causing you particular difficulty, the visa and immigration forum on here is top notch. The fact that you've been here for a decade suggests you've managed this successfully in earlier years, so it's just a matter of having a system in place.
