A French man who was reported missing after going for an evening swim on Thursday has been found dead 7.5 nautical miles off Koh Kood.

A fishing boat called Wisanuchainawee found Alain Gaubert, 51, floating face down on Sunday. He was wearing trunks.

Authorities went to the area by speedboat and recovered the body that was confirmed as the French man. The body was taken to the Klong Yai Hospital for autopsy.

Manager reported that Mr Gaubert had checked into a hotel on the island on February 28th and was due to stay until today.

His shoes were found on the beach.
