Has anyone who has filed their taxes in February actually received their return?   Last year the taxes came back within two weeks; this year not the same. Thanks.

If you have PromptPay you get the refund within 2 days, if not, a minimum 45 days......as of last year in most places.

I have prompt pay and submitted my return via online on 15th February 2018, I had a SMS from e-revenue on 23rd Feb saying they needed support documents, these were sent by email to the officer dealing with my case on 26th Feb, he acknowledged receipt on the 27th, saying he would get back to me if he needed more.

So far he has not and no refund received.

I don't have PromptPay and filed at the tax office (not online) on January 11th, 2018 and received my refund in the mail on February 2nd, 2018, so that is 28 days from filing.

May be I should check my mailbox!

I mailed my return through Thai mail on 18 Feb and got the deposit in my bank account on 15 Mar.   Faster than last year and was surprised to say the least.

Assuming this is a US expat question? I am waiting. Registered mail was received by IRS on Feb. 10. Went to the IRS website ... got no information.

Why would you assume a US expat question?

Is Prompt Pay also a US scheme?

My question is the same, is the OP referring to taxes in USA, Thailand or where?

I am a US citizen and filed on-line in Feb and received my refund in about 2/3 weeks which was electronically deposited in my bank account in USA.

OP: it looks as though things might be settling down with The Revenue following last years cutover to PromptPay as their prefered method payment (they let everyone else wait), from the sounds of things people are getting their checks this year in under 30 days compared to last years 45 days so that's good news.

I am asking about Thailand's tax refund. I filed in person at the ITF building on Silom on February 19th. It has been four weeks, which is twice as long as how long I waited last year.I wish I had known about PromptPay: I bank at Bangkok Bank; next year!

I only learned about PromptPay after I filed, I then registered the next day using SCB online banking, Bangkok Bank may have something similar to register?

It was very easy and they use your mobile number, from what I understand the RD just enter that number in regardless of the bank and it goes through.

How would one get PromptPay?

As I've just posted, I registered mine online with SCB, very easy process.

U.S, two to three weeks. Thailand, two to three months.

Utter rubbish. My US tax refund has never arrived here in under five months, add to that another six weeks to get the Thai bank to collect on the USD cheque they sent! My Thai tax refund arrives anywhere between three weeks and six weeks and always has.

That why you keep a bank account in the US,  if you are going to be paying US taxes.  You will always be better off with a US bank account and more importantly,  file electronically

I filed on March 13 from Thailand and my refund hit my US Bank yesterday, 7 days later

Agreed. Except I'm not a US citizen and I left the US in 1984 so it's a bit late for me to get those things. Plus the US only enacted the legislation to tax me so heavily, after I left, other wise I might have overlooked the tax and simply not bothered.

Day 33 and nothing yet....

I was beginning to get worried myself, however, this thread did prompt me to check the letterbox at the condo that I rent (I only ever get bills normally, so only look when I know these are due) and found a letter from the RD, aha I thought, the cheque, wrong............. it was yet another request for more supporting documentation, I'd sent a bunch of stuff on 26th Feb  to the officer dealing with the case, he replied saying thanks and he would email me back if he needed more, nope, instead he wrote a snail mail!

I got divorced in 2015, so stopped claiming the tax allowance for the ex. from 2016, I am still claiming for the children because they are my responsibility.

This time the RD want the divorce certificate and proof that the children are under my care! (the ex. has never paid PIT, don't think she even knows that people do)

Annoying to say the least, as have been claiming allowance for both of the children since 2004 and since the divorce I am losing allowance, not gaining, the gainer is the Government.

Year after year they want the same supporting docs.........

Last year I voluntarily paid over 300,000 THB in tax owing on a PF payment, no prompting needed from RD.

Seems that when you do the honest thing then you have to jump through a million hoops to get back your own money that was overpaid, they owe me just shy of 34,000 THB, not a fortune, but it is mine and I want it back!

Rant over!

Anyway, just wanted to say it might be worth checking with them, to see if they are needing some more supporting docs before they pay out.

You'll never hear me complain about an honest man and a rant here.  Good luck with it all.
