Visa Agents Advice

Featured Replies

Hi can someone point me in the right direction to get a good visa agent.

I want my gf to visit the UK in july and i thought about doing the visa application myself but I don't feel confident to do it this time.

Is there any good agents in Hua Hin or is it best to get one from bkk.

Thanks in advance

I'm sorry I can't offer advice on agents as I never used one, but if you're interested in my advice here's mine. Agents are parasites. IMO people tend to over-analyse what is required and worry too much. All you need to know is that you should be honest. If the applicant is a brain surgeon, write 'brain surgeon' on the application. If the applicant is a bar slag, write 'bar slag' on the application. The British government is not in the business of judgementalism. Even an estate agent can get a visa. I'll wager that after the UK leaves the EU, even Belgians will still be granted visas. All they care about is the immigration rules being observed.

FYI my Thai wife and stepdaughter are British citizens. I did all the form filling myself, from entry clearance to ILR to citizenship, never got any help from anyone or anything. It's not that hard. Agents are scum.

Good luck.

The actual process is quite straightforward, your girlfriend, the applicant, has to apply and she needs to satisfy the Entry Clearance Officer that her proposed trip is genuine, afforadable and that she is likely to return home at the conclusion of her visit.

She needs to apply online, you could assist her remotely from the UK, but she needs to visit the Visa Application Centre in Bangkok to submit the hard copy of her application and supporting documents, as to have her biometric details captured.

If you could tell us a bit more about the applicants circumstances, ties here in Thailand, purpose and length of trip etc, we may be able to advise further.

Whilst some so called agents are not all they claim to be, including some run by foreigners, there are a couple of good ones out there. The guys that run Thai Visa Express are pretty good and are registered with the Office of the Immigration Services Commissioner (OISC) who  regulates immigration advisers and makes sure they meet certain standards, they also sponsor this forum and come highly recommended, they're based in Pattaya.

I'm not aware of any decent agents in Hua Hin, certainly not any who are registered with (OISC).

I think the online application process is pretty straightforward, can I suggest that you register as an applicant using a throwaway email address, you can then do a ghost application for yourself to guage how difficult, or easy, it is.

Applications are currently processed in Bangkok, they will be processed in Delhi from June but the applicant will still need to visit the Visa Application Centre in Bangkok.
