Hi all, my mate has a cambodian girlfriend. She has lived in thailand along time on work permits etc. He would like to take her to the uk for a holiday. Has anybody any experience of doing this in thailand, where to apply for visa to uk etc

You apply on line, UK visitor Visa. I applied last year for a Visa for my Cambodian g/f of 10 years. Lived together in Thailand for the last 6 years, proof of that, plenty of money in bank to support her, I was her sponsor, my house in the UK to stay, i was traveling to the UK and back with her, etc etc. All of my evidence was completely ignored and they rejected her application on the grounds of nothing to return to Cambodia so she was only going to the UK to work, which was utterly untrue, but it suited them to say that. They basically called us liars and it was a fraudulent application. We still live together under the same circumstances and I'm afraid if we make another application it will be still be refused. Cambodian applications have a 30% refusal rate, so good luck to your mate.

She applies in the same way as a Thai, as long as she is legally residing in Thailand. The form is completed online but she will attend VFS in Bangkok for biometrics and to submit the form. My girlfriend, now wife, is Laotian and has had no problems getting UK Visitor visas. However she will need to demonstrate a good reason to return to Thailand.
