An 86-year-old man was on Thursday found dead in a house where he lived alone in Prachin Buri’s Kabin Buri district, police said.

Neighbours had noticed that Chalerm Yutthasartsena had not left his house in Moo 6 village in Tambon Khao Mai Kaew. They alerted the village head after noticing a stench coming from the building.

The village head then call his son, who lives in Prachin Buri’s Muang district, to check.

The bloated body of Chalerm was found in front of the TV in the living room with a head injury and with blood traces on the floor.

A doctor determined that he had died about three days earlier.

There was no sign of ransacking in the home. Police believe the old man fell as he moved to turn on the TV and his head on a desk holding the TV.

The man had been living alone, with his children and other relatives rarely visiting him.

Hits his head hard enough to leave bloody footprints on the floor, then manages to get to his chair and sit down?  Something doesn't sound right about that.

Its ok, he is not a farang. So no chance that someone whacked him in the head and then picked him up and sat him on the chair.

About 1400 people die in Thailand every day.

I wonder why this death stands out enough to feature on this expat forum.

I was wondering that also. I'd be very happy to survive to 86 here.

Read it a couple of times but can't find the bits that mention 'in a chair' and 'bloody footprints'

How about slumped on the floor and blood traces on the floor maybe from the head injury when his head hit the tv table.

Just sayin.

Of course "that" doesn't sound right, you made it all up!  No mention of "bloody footprints", no mention of his managing to get on his chair to sit down either.

I'm not surprised judging from the quality of TV shown on the Thai Channels let alone International rubbish. Died of boredom and 'channel changers stress'

RIP Van Winkle

Did the cops take the TV in for questioning?

It's a remote possibility Emster23; death by 'remote battery'.

However writing this, death by Sophon is probably the most likely cause - unfortunately.

Rest in peace therefore Uncle Chalerm and now you're hopefully in a much better place, where you'll never have to listen to Howard Miller or "Li'l Ash in Bangkok's" voices ever again. :jap:
