Very cheap charlie. Oil change is 200 or less

I did this 2 or 3 times after the warranty on my pick up ran out, as there was a garage very close by, and found that it doesn't save you any money.

In fact the maintenance is less complete than when done at the dealer, and cost you same. Take also in account that most local garages don't have the right tools, and may damage things.

They charged me 300 Baht for labour only, and it cost me same at the Nissan dealer.

When I make an appointment with the Nissan dealer i make sure that i mention that i don't need all those minor check ups that add quite a bit to the total price.

I tell them oil and filters only.

So if you don't have a BMW, which will charge you the equivalent of a small house for an oil service, better go to the dealer and have some back up in case something goes wrong.

It costs me 1,300B to get my 10,000km service done at the dealer. For that they change the oil and filter using proper brand-name parts, and they check numerous other things according to the manufacturer's specifications, and I get a free car wash that is significantly better than the ones I pay for elsewhere.

The idea of trying to save money on that seems daft to me.

Think at a main dealer they will use quality oil and filter whereas outside you could be buying cheap Chinese stuff..

I agree with the syn oil except for use in an old/high mileage engine that has never had it....:stoner:

Gents its a long story so I,m not going to bore U with it....my car is a 2016 Nissan with just 2,000 kms on the clock NO LONGER under warranty OK (as I,ve said earlier long story)....I,ve a Nissan OEM filter from a Nissan dealership and Mobil fully synthetic oil,I,m not trying to cut corners....all I,m asking is will any local garage do this simple job....otherwise I.ll jack it up myself and do it.

When it comes to a more complex service it will go into Nissan......

Thanks that,s all I needed to know  .....car had been stored for 18 months (almost a brand new car protective film/covers on seats etc) due to a legal dispute (nearly 200 Nissan vehicles in total involved),I purchased it with 700 kms on the clock....car out of warranty as it had never been serviced as per warranty requirements,I had it checked over and serviced at my local Nissan dealership then (oil/filter change and basic visual checks....I watched)....cost 2,700 baht (500 baht for fuel injector cleaner fluid as they recommended) I,m looking at the next service 10,000 kms where I,ll have the oil changed once again as its a straightforward service....at 20,000 kms it will go back to Nissan.....

Its my 3rd Nissan here the previous two were bought and maintained from a Nissan dealership as per warranty.....Mobil 1 synthetic oil is superior (and more expensive) to Nissan,s standard 10W/30,s semi synthetic and this is one of the reasons I am getting it done myself.

Once upon a time I used to get my civic serviced at the honda dealer. I used to supply my own synthetic oil and they were happy to put that in. I'm sure nissan will do the same. Your car only has 2000 kms on it. Some manufacturers change the oil after the first 1000kms, so I wonder if your car had that initial oil change (the new engine can produce extra waste metal particles so that initial oil is changed quickly. If you the oil still looks ok it should still be ok to drive the car until 10K kms (providing it had that initial 1000km oil change). It may be worth taking it to nissan for a check anyway and ask their opinion.

If you read my reply properly again I had it serviced at 800 kms (oil/filter change etc) as it had been "laid up" for some time.... Nissan servicing schedule is every 10,000 kms or six months.....whichever comes first

I missed that. I think normal oil won't degrade over a couple of years of not being driven. How does the oil look now? Has it gone black yet?

Hardly...it was serviced only last month
