Songkran festival exodus begins at bus terminal

Bangkok’s northern bus terminal was packed with tens of thousands of Songkran revellers yesterday (Apr 9) as they began leaving the capital for homes prior to the long 5-day Songkran festival beginning April 12-16.

 

Among the Songkran revellers include the early tide of migrant workers streaming out of Bangkok for homes in Myanmar, Laos and Cambodia after the government advised their Thai employers to allow their foreign employees to return home to celebrate the Songkran festival in their home countries during April 5-30.

 

During the period, exemption of fees from exiting the country process will be provided to migrant workers but under conditions that they must return to work in the country before April 30.

why don't people call it like it is ?: songkran is not 3,5 days , it is more like 10 days

All I remember is Songkran is a very wet celebration, which was improved by

the drinking of much liquids every day. Not to worry  the police will be there to

save you.

Pattaya and a few other places but most adhere to only 3-5 days

Can you buy these invisible helmets in Thailand?

Then it´s just to count the 10-thousands, and take away 3,6 persons every time. They will never have a Song Kran, according to the road toll statistics. Happy Song Kran!

Pattaya maybe, but not in Bangkok. 13th to 15th and it's done.

Pattaya is not the whole of Thailand, in all other places its 13-15th and those are n general also the days people are free.
