Locating toilet and wash basin on tiled floor

Featured Replies

I now want to re-fit the above.

When I removed they were both bedded on some white compound ...it had gone very hard and I safely removed both by cutting into the tiles with an angle grinder and also using a saw.

What shoild I use to re-bed them ...someone suggested tile grout ...would this be okay ... tks

The toilet should come with a wax like, fibre seal, put the toilet over the pipe,

mark the holes in base of toilet, remove toilet and drill holes for the bolts that

might have come with toilet,if not you have to supply your own.

place wax/fibre seal over pipe, place toilet on seal, and tighten down with bolts

large screws, donot over tighten or you will crack toilet, you can also seal around with

white cement, see DIY store, same for  wash basin, no seal just screw/bolt to floor, wall.

When I took the WC out there was no wax seal ... the seal was this white stuff! ... no screws but the screw holes were filled with this white stuff. It is the same with the WC's in our house ... no screws. The floor has a 1:100 slope so needs a little 'packing' else .....

I have not heard of white cement ... HomePro or Thai Watsadu etc will have this ... and the seal?

My loos do not have screws, they use a sticky doughnut ring that they plonk the loo on and squash it down which seals everything and l assume stops it moving as it dries....

The DIY stores should have the white cement,it goes very hard like porcelain,

the seal should come with the toilet, are you using the same toilet or buying

a new one,not sure if you can buy separate, there are holes in base of toilets

they are for securing it to floor, but some Thai plumbers think you don't need

to do that !,i caught one trying to fit the toilet without the seal too,!,I asked

why do you think the toilet manufacturer supplies it with toilet, just grumbled.

for me there is only the right way to do things.
