Phuket Airport to Khura Buri

Featured Replies

I will be arriving in Phuket Airport next month and wish to take a bus to Khura Buri in Phang nga Province.  I know that Rungkit Tour have a bus from Phuket to Chumpon that stops in Khura Buri. I want to avoid having to go to Phuket Bus Station as the bus passes close to the airport on the motorway to Sarasin Bridge. Does anybody know where is the  bus stop nearest to the airport?

This is so specific about Phuket, maybe better in the Phuket forum?

Just ask a taxi to take you to the bus stop on the main road.

That's true. Trouble is how long a wait at the bus top ? And will even a meter cab take such a short fare ride. Personally I would take the airport bus to the bus terminal and hang out there until the next bus leaves.  Maybe the OP does have the Rungkit Tour bus schedule and can work out good times for his incoming flight.

This is a route map of Phuket Airport Bus to town.

Getting off the bus at " Pranang Srang Temple" or " Horoines Monument" might be good?

Prevents going into town to the busstation. But other places closer to the airport would be more convenient. Basically the first stop on the main road.

Sounds like a lot of fun catching a bus or taxi from the airport out to the highway,  sitting at a stop for an indeterminate time, hoping the next bus is soon, and does actually stop for you.

Myself, I would use one of the direct services from the airport to Khao Lak even though it may cost 10 or 20 bucks more.

Having cycled out to Sarasin and beyond many times, the nearest 'bus stop' to what is the airport turnoff on the main road going north, is actually about 1 km south of the airport turnoff, opposite a 7/11 (that's also a turnoff that goes to Pa Klok and eventually comes out at Heroines Monument.   The other alternative would be to get to Klok Kloi bus station (first town in Phang Nga) about 5 km north of the Sarasin Bridge.

I normally say opposite of the highway police. Also locals know it in that way.

There are busses which go up north. Some busses go only to Takua Pa, were you can have a stop at the bus station. Others go all the way to Chumpom.

This is how long it normally takes. The busses go every 1 to 1.5 hours.

Bus schedule
10:10 Phuket
10:50 Muang Mai
11:50 Khao Lak real: 12:15
12:50 Takua pa real 13:10
15:40 Ranong
18:00 Chumpom

Thanks for all the useful information. I did not need to get a bus from the airport to Khura Buri after all. Returning to airport I took the Rungkit Tour bus from Khura Buri and got off at the airport junction. Got a motorcycle taxi from there to airport.
