Thanks for your input.  JJ's bar sort of sounds familiar, but not sure.  Can't find much using Google either.  I am going to do a day trip to Nong Bua Daeng today.  In the past I have gone to a German (and his wife) owned apartment/motel.  He has a reception place next to the apartments with some tables outside, cold beer, ice and serves some Farang food (as well as Thai food).  Anyway, I will probably go there again today as it seems there isn't much else.
