After a dog tested positive to the deadly rabies virus, a district livestock development office in Krabi province on Monday designated its village a rabies control zone.

Narong Boonphan, chief livestock development officer of Lamthap district, said the Moo 3 village in Tambon Thung Sai Thong announced the designation after a dog tested positive on April 19.

Narong also released a photo of the infected dog and urged those who had been licked, scratched or bitten by the dog urgently seek the rabies vaccine.

Narong said animals and pets in the village could not be moved without permission.

Two dogs in the district tested positive for rabies in early March.

Rabies vaccines will be done vigorously until a few important people die, then and only

then the attitude of a stray dog and stray cat cull will be changed.

Chiang Mai Lightning , agree with that ! Not just dogs. Last year I visited PhiPhi Don for a week and it has a major cat problem. Ripe for a rabies outbreak.
