Don't know what I was looking at to think it was 1 yr. Thank you. Yes indeed it is a 2 year. I have had automobile for a long time, but the motorcycle is last year because got tired of avoiding check points and paying. I did it the same time with my son, so we are happy to hear we don't have to go for another year. Yipeee.
KhunBENQ Posted April 30, 2018 Posted April 30, 2018 (edited) You need a medical certificate for that (2yr temporary to 5yr). No medical required for 5yr to 5yr. Since March 1 a new form has been introduced. Quite likely they will also require such form in CM. About the new form: https://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/1025123-a-new-form-of-medical-certificates-to-be-introduced-march-1-for-driving-license-applications/ Proof of residence is also required: https://www.dlt.go.th/en/two-year-license/ What serves/is accepted as proof of residence (yellow book e.g.) might vary by office. Don't know about Chiang Mai. Edited April 30, 2018 by KhunBENQ
Pesky Posted April 30, 2018 Posted April 30, 2018 (edited) Chiang Mai do indeed accept the Yellow Book as proof of residence (well they did last week when I renewed my 2yr car licence for the 5yr version. They require both original & copies of Passport & Yellow Book, plus original Medical Certificate dated within 1 month of date of your new licence application (no photos required as they take one as part of the new licence printing process}. Also need to pass the colour blindness test, Cost of the 5yr Car Licence is 505bht, & the entire process was completed in under 50 mins, which I thought was very satisfactory! KhunBENQ Posted May 1, 2018 Posted May 1, 2018 Consistent with my experience (not CM). Some video watching on top
