all three series are worth watching

What's the three? There's The Trip and The Trip to Spain, what else?

Edit: Found it, Trip to Italy. Haven't seen that one.

Nice call.

Really enjoyed episode 1 of this one.

Embedded subs.

Summary: Four men become fugitives after a failed drug deal, running from north to south of Chile

This whole series is available with embedded subs.

One of the best series of the year IMO.

Gunpowder. The story of Guy Fawkes and his group of Freedom Fighters in 1605 to blow up THOP with the pretender  King Inside. Good political history and torture. Just three episodes.

Written by an ex IRA fighter so very slanted re the Catholic faith. It was not that slanted in those days.

It's just history. Whoever wrote it. It's the history taught in all standard school books in the UK. Nothing controversial about it except the truthful depiction of the cruelty of the times.

Are you 100% sure that it’s still taught in all ‘standard UK schools’ ?
I have my doubts?

Just finished "State of Play" - the BBC series from 2003, not any other version.

http://www.metacritic.com/tv/state-of-play

"State of Play is one of those series where a moment's brilliance is rivaled by the very next scene, a careening thriller that gives credence to the idea that there may not be any better format for telling an impact story than over the course of four or six hours."

Written by Paul Abbott who was also responsible for "Cracker" ( which i htink has already been recommended... or should have been).

Great stuff,  and Kelly Macdonald too. Only 6 episodes and done, not drawn out and milked endlessly.

Only drawback is the available quality is not too fabulous - 576p... but that's still way better than True AXN quality back in the pre HD days, so certainly ok.

Wil be taking a gander at Gunpowder, which is also a nice short 3 parter...

Oh, "Alias Grace" is also queued up - adapted from the same writer of The Handmaids Tale, and also a 6 parter.

I only thought it was a D - because of a few funny lines.

But the constant fake monsters screaming and computerized/cartoonish action

made it just about unwatchable for me boring and gave me a bad headache

But, it will probably make a billion dollars.

I thought there was a good bit of humor.

Not sure what one expects from an kid movie, but I thought it was good. No “Scanner Darkly”, but certainly watchable.

To each his own.

Does anyone else think the walking dead has got really boreing? It seems to have lost its way

Yup !!
Some of these series seem to be trying to get blood out of a stone by dragging the storyline on endlessly !
Worst for me was Prison Break which became farcical in the number of escapes/captures !

I tired of WD after a few seasons and turned to Z Nation which is the same but different (?) . [emoji53]

I agree. They seem to follow the comic format, then rinse & repeat.

1. Search for a new home

2. Fight humans / zombies to gain entry

3. Have to leave & find a new home

For me, it depends who the bad guy is . The governor and Negan are the best ever IMHO. I can't stand it when it all about killing zombies.

It was ridiculous that all the prison officials quit and were following them around trying to catch them. The show did not want to come up with new bad guys.

TV series portraying strong empowered women and weak, cowardly men does nothing for me.

It's PC garbage and always has been, the spin off (Fear the walking dead) is even worse..
