coops Posted November 7, 2017 Share Posted November 7, 2017 Just finished "State of Play" - the BBC series from 2003, not any other version. http://www.metacritic.com/tv/state-of-play "State of Play is one of those series where a moment's brilliance is rivaled by the very next scene, a careening thriller that gives credence to the idea that there may not be any better format for telling an impact story than over the course of four or six hours." Written by Paul Abbott who was also responsible for "Cracker" ( which i htink has already been recommended... or should have been). Great stuff, and Kelly Macdonald too. Only 6 episodes and done, not drawn out and milked endlessly. Only drawback is the available quality is not too fabulous - 576p... but that's still way better than True AXN quality back in the pre HD days, so certainly ok. Wil be taking a gander at Gunpowder, which is also a nice short 3 parter... Oh, "Alias Grace" is also queued up - adapted from the same writer of The Handmaids Tale, and also a 6 parter.
