American pimp arrested in northern Thailand was running Burmese sex ring on Facebook

Fuss about nothing. Anytime you cross the bridge from Maesai you're pestered by touts pimping for brothels. I've even had it while shopping with the wife and kids! Looking at this bloke's advert it seems he was looking to make an inordinately fat percentage on the going rate by holding the hands of punters too nervous to look after themselves. Maybe he even had a commission thing going like some sort of glorified sahmlaw driver or whatever. In any event, it's not exactly 'running a sex-ring', and to read some of the posts on here, you'd think the guy was a cross between Charles Manson and the Devil. But the mob will always find justification to start looking for stones...

Well done DSI & CSD. Throw this garbage back to where he came from.

  • well he is also a danger to Thailand because he interferes with where the distribution of income should really be going

No! He is a danger to Thailand, because he deals with human trafficking and that there is proof of that. The only thing you are doing is making up a side story totally without proof, and putting the

The word I heard last week was that he was still being held without charges pending further inquiries.

Thanks for the prompt response. Would that be in Burma or Thailand?

Held without charges for months. Most unusual. Even the most violent  and savage of murderers are released on bail. I have the impression that either he is not willing to grease his release or the US consulate is not helping him.  All very curious. Sometimes innocent people get jammed up, which is why I have refrained from commenting until now.

I believe that the US embassy is involved, and not necessarily in a supportive way.

Any any thing new on this guy (Ken), is he out on bail, been sentenced yet or have any formal charges yet? I read through all of the post form the first one to here and nothing has been confirmed as to the charges yet. Some one mentioned that he had visa violation that he was being held on, any info on that.

I met him several times back when i use to live in CR and although he seemed to have a bit of quirky  personalty, he seemed to be a good guy over all. Just hope that he is getting good legal help. Many farang get rail roaded and that would be very unfortunate.

Any update that is constructive would be appreciated. I already read all the negative judgmental comments on here and don't care to hear any more of that abusive comment as a reply to my question.

Thanks in advance for any updates.

Foreign garbage, maybe?

Do some research in, for example, Craigslist.

Plenty on offer, even "guided" sextours into Birma, organised by a local group with local guides.

I`ve seen those ads and also seen the (OP) guy`s ad on craigslist, he was advertising his services for several years. His ad did not directly offer women for sex, he claimed that he knew where available women were at and for a price would be your sex tour guide.

The women involved were already prostitutes and his part was to introduce them to Farang customers.

I would not exactly describe this as human trafficking, but more as a pimping operation. Now he`s out of action, I`m sure there will be others taking his place and soon it will be business as usual.

And you need to question as to why people would need to go across to Myanmar for sex with females , considering that there are females on the Thai side of the border offering services .

Why would customers need a guide to find a female in Myanmar and why not just get on with it on the Thai side ?

Ken also posted here that "Myanmar is just like Thailand used to be"

Make of that what you want .

The undercover Thai police also encouraged Ken to bring underage girls across the border .

His ads also advertised "petite" girls .

Is this the same guy who had this Boomerang Rock Climbing joint at Chiang Rai? Sure looks like him... Jeeeezzz. Creepy!

The advert didnt say "minors" but it said "cute, young , petite girls ".

Why would people need an "agency" to find regular prostitutes ?

Human trafficking is not limited to minors. Even adults or males can be trafficked.

My guess is that men were interested in Myanmar prostitutes because they probably offer sexual services a lot cheaper than the Thai prostitutes. I would also guess that many male Thailand expats have no experience and never visited Myanmar or around the border areas and this guy who you seem to be on first name terms with was running a business as a guide.

I have not read anywhere that this guy was involved with under aged girls.

In my opinion I don`t think this guy has done much wrong. He was just obtaining customers for women that are probably already well seasoned prostitutes and earning commissions for himself.

I can remember back in the UK, there used to be companies offering tours for sex tourists in Thailand, even including a Thai girl to stay with them while in Thailand. Not sure whether or not these companies are still in operation. As far as I know, no one has ever been brought to book for that. Over the years Thai female sex workers have got greedy and the OP guy was maybe taking advantage of that. Good business savvy in my opinion.

Provided this does not involve under age girls, I have nothing against prostitution, there will always be women willing and able to provide sexual services, men wanting to pay for sexual services and believe prostitution among consenting adults should be legalised.

The reason I think the police have come down hard on this Ken guy is because he was independently making money out of this, by-passing the usual channels of mafia gangs and corrupt officials that expect their slice of the cake in what is a very lucrative business. Yet we have escorts advertising on websites run by international gangs operating with impunity. It`s all BS.

What one does or does think should be legal has little to do with what is or is not actually legal.

I look at prostitutes willing or unwilling as victims.

They were more expensive , I recall a figure of 8000 Baht being handed over for two Burmese girls for the night .

Once in Tachilek , Burma , you can only stay in the town , you cannot go outside the town , most of his services were offered to foreigners , why would a Thai need a felang as a guide , there are plenty of Burmese guides in Tachilek .

Ken was taking sex customers to prostitutes in Burma , why would a sex tourist go all the way to Myanmar , if they were not offering services unavailable in Thailand?

It's not uncommon to be held for up to 3 months while authorities gather evidence before going to court, as is the case here. He wasn't released on bail because immigration deemed him undesirable and if he were released on the criminal charges he'd be held by immigration till that determination was made. Actually he was released from the big house in Chiang Rai and transferred to immigration holding in Mae Sai for a number of weeks, but circumstances arose that put him back in Chiang Rai. All that said...
I heard he was in court last week and sentenced. I've yet to confirm on what charges, but I heard he was given a year in custody. I'm waiting for clarification on everything. When I get that I'll post an update.

Yup, that's him, and since he hasn't been online here since I guess he has no access to internet.

A figure of 8000 baht for two girls for the night. Where do you get your information? You speak as if you personally knew this guy. You seem determined tp prove a point with no source of information.

Does not confirm these girls were under age. You`re adding things in that are simply not there.

Read the thread , thats how much he gave the mamasan .

He was a regular poster on here , I often asked him why he went to Tachilek so often and asked him what he meant when he stated that "Tachilek is just like Thailand used to be" , he didnt reply

"Birma" never existed. It was misspelled by a German professor and always stayed as "Birma" in schoolbooks.

It doesnt , but , it quite sounds it .

Again, why would a sex tourist go all the way to Myanmar with him as a guide , when there are woman available in Thailand ?

Yes, but the point is that this guy's advertising on Craigslist was heavily nuanced to suggest minors were available for sex.

And you are ignoring the INFERENCE. Of course he's not going to be daft enough to say "nubile, pre-teen virgins" in public. I saw the innocently-worded adverts on Craigslist and they instantly triggered my low-life detector. One probably needs to be more familiar with the low-life's of this world to pick up these subtle suggestions.

Game set match, shot in the foot.

Yeah maybe he should have stated the obvious;

Fat older single moms with bad breath.

While you beer drinkers cum detectives are postulating and condemning the man as a purveyor of underage girls...give this thought a chance...
If there was a glimmer of a chance that young girls were involved the police agencies would have crucified him. End of story.
