Best place to buy fridge, TV, mattress in BKK...

I am moving into a new place in BKK...it is empty.  I would appreciate any recent experiences of buying the following in BKK....And will want free delivery.

 

1)  Top priority.  Looking for a two door, inverter, that uses less than 300 Kwh per year.  My hotel had a really nice Sharp, but those plastic shelves were so breakeable......small to mid-size.

 

2) TV...prefer Sony, possibly smart, 32-40 inch....no Samsung.....if they can bring a wall mount and install, even better.  Would consider Toshiba, Sharp....

 

3) Mattress....Full or Queen...no springs, but no rubber or coconut shells, either.  I like the compressed foam..kind of hard, but last well and cheaper than springs.

 

4). And a 3500 watt hot water heater.....

1. PowerBuy, Home Pro. Do some research in store. All details are on the fridges in the showroom.

 

2. PowerBuy, Home Pro, Big C, Tesco. TVs are everywhere. Do some research in store. Ask them about wall mounts and installation. Should be no problem. Delivery within BKK is usually free with minimum spend.

 

3. Home Pro, Ikea, local shops. Not hard to find.

 

4. Home Pro has a huge selection. Do research in store and ask the staff.

 

bis: if you have a Thai credit card, usually some big discounts are available and 0% financing options. The more you spend in one place, the happier they will be and offer freebies. Can be delivery, installation or discounts. You have to get up and go shopping. Alternatively, buy everything on the Home Pro website.

I bought a Hitachi refrigerator and a Carrier AC from Big C. I have bought 2 TVs from Tesco and a king bed with mattress from HomePro. Each store offered the best price on each item I bought. Free delivery was included and they each have a loyalty program for extra discounts.

i have bought furniture from homepro and appliances from powerbuy. have found both to be very proffesional and reliable,including delivery and installation...

PowerBuy probably have the biggest range of electrical when come to TVs,Panasonic, Sony, Toshiba, LG,water heaters, be careful some don't work so well on low water pressure, as I have found out the hard way, also be wary about low kwh fridges, being a hot climate some of those fridges won't cool down properly in high ambient temp as I have found out the hard way again.

A fridge in a hot room is always a bad idea.  Was it an inverter?

I really like Carrier..Was this recently?  An inverter?  R32?  Does it use a Hitachi compressor?

I really hope this a dig at the OP - TVs don’t work so well on low water pressure.

is it so difficult to find a shop to buy the usual sort of everyday things - or just look around in the malls.

Two responses of zero value.  Stores change, prices change, and so does technology.  Perhaps, you could tell me how to put you on my "ignore list."

 

 

TVs have changed a lot lately.  When did they start manufacturing for digital TV in Thailand.  Not that I want to watch Thai PBS, but would expect a better price on older technology.

Yes mate, Panasonic econavi, cops bit of afternoon sun, supposed to be very low energy user, sometimes there false economy, not good for hot climates, as the compressor is constantly running, not cutting out on thermostat.

the inverters run a lot more, but usually at 33%..And avoid the high energy startups.  I used to get warnings from the electric company about using refrigerators in places like garages...very costly, and that was 25 years ago.

Price shop starting with Lazada (online shopping), then check all the aforementioned stores for the best price. They all deliver free. 

 

Bought a couple TVs from Lazada and a Samsung Digital Inverter Fridge from "Lotus". Found the best deal and delivered a few days later, free.

One time I. Ought a DVD player from Siam TV.
Found out it was slightly too large to fit in my AV cabinet/furniture below the tv.

The came out next day packet it up all into the box and took it away I was given full refund/credit just bought a different unit that fit properly

No Charge no hassle. Will Lazada do that?

Usually both HomePro and PowerBuy have a whole set of running promotions if the buyer uses most any of the major Thai bank credit cards. Sometimes a % discount. Almost always no interest or low interest financing for varying periods. The specific promotions/terms may vary depending on which specific card you're talking about.

The discounts and finance offers I've seen at HomePro and PowerBuy typically relate to Thai (not farang) credit cards, not ATM cards.

Homepro for a lot of mine, mainly because i thought one supplier would be convenient. Turns out each department delivers independently, so no gain there at the end of the day.

Someone did tell me that HomePro negotiates fiercely on mattresses, and I thought that was odd for a big box store, but something to be aware of.  Often, the salespeople are employees of the manufacturer, not the store.  It is good to be aware of that, too....sales people having an extra vested interest in certain brands.  I went in to buy a Sony one time, selected it, then a guy comes up and says menu not in English..bought a Toshiba, instead, but to this day I still wonder if I was boldly lied to.  Did have a dead pixel after a year, and I don't think any of them would warrant that..hard to even see with the naked eye, but you know it is there....annoying, but a far above average TV....I also noticed sound quality varies a lot on the TVs...beware of that, too.

 

I went through this same exercise about five years ago..bought a bare condo.  The landscape for this stuff has changed a lot.  Much more online ordering, now...much more competition,,, more promotions.  Kind of caught up with the west...as far as people getting pushed to the internet to get the best prices.

I would go to a big Lotus and look around.

I think Samsung is best bang for buck in TV & fridge.
