I have one thing to say to your long post, and that is people today live longer, and for most people who do not jump on the high consumer train with junk, sugar etc etec, live longer and healthier. Not because of being vegetarian, eating suplements or thinking about where all this things is produced.

I however aggre with wild animal meet, cold water fresh fish, and so on it not only good and tasty, but also healthy. In the meantime we also need to live a little bit, and lower our shoulders, and enjoy life.

For those needing Vitamin B12, they should be careful to understand more about it.  The typical injections do almost no good at all.  Scientific studies have shown that virtually all of the B12 in them exits the body through the kidneys within 48 hours.  This is because the form administered was cyanocobalamin--the cheapest and most worthless form of B12.  As one source states:

If you want something more effective, look for adenosylcobalamin, methylcobalamin, or hydroxocobalamin--in about that order.  Do a little research to see why these are better.  Unfortunately, they may be unavailable throughout most of Southeast Asia.

methylcobalamin in tablet form is available - bought it at Foodland Soi 5 Pharmacy.

Now...I wonder where I can get some.

I have found them fairly easily at several Bangkok neighborhood pharmacys. I live in the Phra Khanong area.

If you need them and can't locate any where you live, PM me and I'll purchase what you need and send it to you.

Alas, I'm not so near Bangkok, nowhere near a Foodland, and I'm in a third-world location with no mailing address to boot!  I do appreciate your offer, though.  Very generous hearted of you!  I just try to eat some eggs, and a little yogurt now and then.

One chicken liver contains 7.41 micrograms of vitamin B12, which is more than three times the 2.4 micrograms you should consume each day. If you eat a 3.5-ounce serving of chicken liver, which is the standard serving size for meat, you'll get 16.85 micrograms of vitamin B12.

Note: I believe most reputable Witch Doctors stock chicken liver.

I'm vegetarian, so no liver for me, thank you!

However, the vitamin RDA is essentially irrelevant for B12.  You could actually consume 10 whole grams of B12 with no greater impact than the 2.4 micrograms you quoted.  The fact is, B12 is the largest vitamin in our body, with a molecular size on a par with some bacteria.  Because of this, it cannot pass the intestinal wall without the aid of another molecule called "intrinsic factor."  Intrinsic factor is in shorter supply as one ages, such that even meat eaters often become deficient in B12 as they get older.  Most B12 supplements give a couple thousand micrograms, almost a thousand times more than the RDA for B12, just to help maximize the potential for absorption.  You will not absorb it all--far from it.  Furthermore, because of this, it is important to get B12 regularly, as the body can only absorb a very limited amount per day.

Could try Neurobion then - may be available locally

Thiamine mononitrate (Vitamin B1)

100mg

Pyridoxine hydrochloride (Vitamin B6)

200mg

Cyanocobalamin (Vitamin B12)

200μg

The most important is to know what you need to eat to get surten substances to work, and what work against each other, or use the same receptors for intake. It is a science itself to know what to eat, when to supply and how it absorves in the body. Iherb explain some theory but it is not science proved yet it works that way they think.

the best I found in English is this one

Iherb is one of the few places I buy stuff if I need.

Likewise, but I have found I can eat chicken liver cooked all the way through. As for pigs liver - I would throw it back up again.

Test your blood levels then possibly make iHerb order .

Enough Is Enough: Stop Wasting Money on Vitamin and Mineral Supplements

Nonsense ,

B12 and B6 fixed my back , and it's a scientific fact .  I had a fragment that had moved in my lower back and it caused severe nerve pain , and the doctor at a famous Bangkok hospital suggested pin hole surgery to remove the fragment

After consulting with another doctor he suggested I should wait 6 months and start heavy doses of B6 and B12 , because B vitamins  can repair the nerve  , the fragment is still there , but the nerve will find another way .

I was pain free after 5 months .  No surgery needed.

Since then I take my daily B12 tablet, just in case. Still pain free after 3 years.

No one survived life yet!

Having survived a sweet tooth to reach my 3 score and 10, I would dispute that. In fact, my diet had far too much processed meat, dairy products, wheat and definitely sugar to be healthy, yet I'm still surviving and functioning.

IMO the real killers are alcohol and tobacco, both being poison.

I will start injection supplements; 4 shots over 8 weeks and then retested to decide of oral supplements or more injections are needed. I found some info on oral supplements on the website. Pretty informative

Sam, I was diagnosed with B12 deficiency several years ago and I had multiple symptoms. Doc said only solution was injections every month for the rest of my life.

That didn't sound too good to me, so I asked my local pharmacy if they had any suggestions. They explained to me that people over sixty often have this problem and it's caused by a lack of intrinsic factor being produced by your body. Without sufficient intrinsic factor, it makes no difference how much B12 you ingest, it won't make any difference.

They mentioned that some scientists in Sweden had studied taking B12 in sublingual form and had some success with some people. Sublingual, of course, completely bypasses your intestines and requires no intrinsic factor. Problem is very little is absorbed this way, so you need to take daily and in relatively large doses.

I take 2500mcg daily and after 20 days my symptoms all disappeared and my blood tests came in "on the high side of normal".  There is little risk of taking too much since B12 is water soluble and you just pee out the excess.

Other huge advantage is by taking daily, your B12 levels are stable and don't drop down until you get your next injection.

Anyhow, I am grateful to the Swedes as it worked for me and for me anyhow, a daily sublingual tablet is far, far better than injections.  It's also far, far cheaper.

Now, you do have to keep the dissolved tablet under your tongue for a minimum of 30 seconds.  If you simply swallow, it won't really do anything.

Anyhow, I recommend you try this. It doesn't work for everyone, but when it works, it is a nice solution.

Regards,

Watchful
