There's a second hand market on Changklan that's open Saturday and Sunday. Heading south it's 100 yards or so before the Rati Lanna.

This one is a true flea market and usually a lot of people selling:

The google info panel that opens up shows that it's open from 7am to 2pm. I believe it's actually open in the evenings.

Also, the Facebook page:

There's a shop on 106 just off Mahidol Road (to the north) that's full of interesting old crap- you'll see a load of old furniture and kitchen alliances in front, but the inside is crammed to the rafters with various doodads.  No idea of the name, but it's easy to spot.

About here, on hiway 3029, before Ping river bridge going east, on south side of road, a large accumulation of 2nd hand stuff all under cover.  But a single shop, not a flea.

In Loei years ago, I used to visit a few junkyards in town.  Pickings were good after the big flood.  My sis-in-law is a part time scrap dealer, so she saves stuff for me, like old knives and those irons that use burning charcoal. Her husband fixes or re-purposes some of the appliances they get.

Yeah, weekend street market near Prince Royal's College gone 2 yrs ago.  Never replaced, as far as i know.  I miss it every Saturday morning.

Check the markets mentioned in 2 and 4 above. They are both very much in line with what was on offer at PRC and may have indeed been part of it.

The one on Changklan is/was busier Saturdays and the other is larger and I definitely visited Saturday morning but maybe timings have changed?

Prices at that shop are at the extreme high end. My wife tried to buy 3 old doors that were in very rough shape. I mean they needed a lot of work. She went alone to try and buy them and they wanted 2800 each for them. She said that when she tried to bargain that the lady wouldn't even knock off 100 Baht - absolutely nothing. The wife ended up finding much nicer used doors elsewhere for  1/2 the price.

Drove by this early last evening and it was very active...maybe 100 different sellers out under plastic (it had just finished raining) with their own lighting. Not a lot of parking along the road, though. You might want to take Grab. Also, they have food for sale there, and there are also a lot of little restaurants across the road. A little ways up, next to the 7-11, there is a pad thai shop that sells some of the best I have found in Chiang Mai.

Good to know as it was a cool scene with some really cool stuff..wondered where the vendors would relocate to..

Any idea on the hours--more so when it closes....sat-sun-weekly?   Will check out the 2nd hand shop as well...tnx

Changklan is every weekend and peters out early afternoon. It's around 100 fixed stalls set up in rows right next door to a Chinese temple/community centre. Parking is on the road and limited inside the market. Couple of items spotted here were a Shakespeare fly fishing reel in good nick for 800baht and an ivory and silver knife for over 10,000.

Will leave others to advise timing of the second market but that one is a true flea market with far more stalls, 200 maybe, but didn't spot any gems but only been there the once.

Other options are the places that receive containers of second hand goods from Japan on a frequent basis. One is across from Hill Place on the 3029 ring road but there are others. These are open daily and packed to the gills.

Happy hunting.

Speaking of this flea market:

It is an evening market, but I am not sure which evenings. I saw it open earlier this week when I drove by, but it was not open last evening. The google listing says Saturday and Sunday from 7am to 2pm, but I know that is not correct. There is a phone number listed in the google listing: 061 390 9100

I tried phoning that number and there was no answer.

This is not exactly a flea market, as it is mostly a farmers' market with fresh and prepared food (and some very nice bakery items), but if you aren't doing anything on Saturday morning and the weather is nice, it's worth a visit:

There are a few stands selling handicrafts as well.

Went to the flea mrkt near the horse race track Sat morning and found many sellers, well organized, fairly clean.  Surely far, far too many amulets on sale in Thailand but loads of other 2nd hand items, and some new clothing...all cheap.  Of course food and drink also available, car parking on the nearby hiway 1366, very close to the big Museum.

Was able to get there on bicycle by crossing hiway 11 pushing bike but could not carry many goods.

Flea market on Chang Klan Road near the Ratilanna is GONE. Does anyone know if it relocated? Years ago there was one at the Payap University (Nawarat/Bumurung).  Also gone. Any new locations? Thanks, Brenda
