VIDEO: Incredible moment rescue workers find boys trapped in cave

A video shows the incredible moment British rescue workers find 12 boys and their football coach trapped in the Tham Luang cave.

The boys, aged between 11 and 16, went missing with the 25-year-old coach after soccer practice on June 23 after they set out to explore the Tham Luang cave complex in Chiang Rai.

A massive international rescue effort has been under way since, with rescue teams battling through thick mud and high water to try to reach the group.

In the clip, a rescue worker can be heard asking "how many of you?" to which one of the boys replies "13".

"Brilliant!", replies the rescue worker.

The boys then asks what day is it before being reassured by the rescue worker that "many many people are coming".

"You have been here 10 days, you are very strong", the rescuer tells the group.

Later in the clip the boys can heard thanking the rescuers and asking where they had come from.

Rescuers had been working on Monday to clear a constricted passageway for divers deep inside the flooded cave complex in a search operation that has been hampered by heavy rain.

Divers from Thailand's elite navy SEAL unit had been focusing on an elevated mound inside the cave which cavers have named "Pattaya Beach", which could have provided the boys with a refuge when rains flooded the cave.

"The SEALs reported that ... they reached Pattaya Beach which was flooded. So they went 400 metres further where we found the 13 ... who were safe," Governor Narongsak Osottanakorn told the cheering group of reporters.

The next challenge will be getting the group out of the cave, which some have dubbed a "labyrinth".

Rescuers had discussed waiting until water levels subsided to get the boys out. Other options included teaching the group to use diving gear to navigate the flooded cave.

Medical teams were seen preparing first aid kits after news of the group's discovery broke outside the cave's entrance.

Relatives of the boys took shelter from heavy rain on Monday and were seen cheering, smiling and receiving calls after receiving the news. Rescuers shook hands and congratulated each other as occasional cheers broke out.

It remains unclear whether any of the group are injured or in need of medical attention.

Thank God they did  find them alive, and special thoughts to all the people who participated  in the rescue in persons or prayers. These kids deserved the pain to find them, so they will make something good of their lives.

Now I can rest. I am so happy with joy and love for everybody who helped and anyway got to these kids.

Now can the world media also focus in the murders of the white South African farmers and the Rohinga genocide please?

Also, to the people who said they would be dead but if they were miraculously found alive the Thais would immediately take all the credit as farangs are worthless here and any farang effort would be discounted, or worse the farangs would be blamed if it all went wrong  - and we all know who you are -  please note this video of two English guys discovering them was posted on the official Thai Navy Seals FB page.   So actually nobody gives a damn - it was a massive, global, team effort, and it is acknowledged as that.  Some people are actually quite grown up about these things.

Delighted. It must have been terrifying for the kids in the dark with the water rising? Well done to the English team. And please let's have none of the usual TV moaning. I'm sure it was a team effort so no need for plaudits or criticisms just universal relief.

Great effort by everyone on site, especially those divers with balls the size of coconuts....

Fingers crossed for no more rain and a safe exit for all..

P.S stop shinning your torch in their eyes ?

This is amazing! Just woke up as usual, and directly checked what was going. This is the best morning I´ve ever had, since many years back in time. This is great, and I am just so greatful that all 13 are found alive, and to all the brave and hard working people that have done this great and fantastic rescue.

There is one thing I do hope though. Here in this forum we have been having members posting rubbish and BS as unsual. Here are some examples without the names:

  • One smelled a rat
  • Another one was disgusted about the time it took and that was showing how bad the people and the country was.
  • Other started to talk about that they couldn´t have survived this long.

After that it has been much more. All you people made this comments out of negative attitude, the need to moan and due to your own bad knowledge.

We can just hope that you also are very happy that you were wrong. Hopefully you can put a sock it next time, and show the rest of us that you really learned something.

This is a great day! Thanks again to all involved in the rescue and to everyone that kept positive to read about them fighting for another day, and another day until they finally found all 13 alive and as well as can be expected.

Oi fallang . where you go? I go with you 5555.

In several other reports i read that Thai Navy seals found the boys, i though that was nice so they can speak Thai...so they had to speak english suddenly when some farang came out of the water 555.

Really good news, I can barely imagine the happiness of their families. Amazing how strong these little boys were. Now let's hope they can get them out soon.

This should restore some reputation to Pattaya and its beaches :-)

Absolutely amazing. Thank you, rescuers and everyone involved, from the cooks to the water deliverers to the farangs to everyone.

The result the world has waited for. Good on everyone for their bravery and for the kids and coach. Prayers answered!

‘Thank You! Thank You!’ See Moment Rescuers Discover Missing In Cave

(Video)

By Khaosod English

CHIANG RAI — Footage has been released of the moment rescue divers located all missing youths and their coach in the cave where they went missing nine days ago.

In the five-minute clip shared to the Navy SEALS page, the boys are shown still wearing their football jerseys and sitting on dry stone. Over cries of ‘Thank you! Thank you!’ in English, a voice with a British accent is heard saying:

Brit: “How many of you? 13? brilliant!”

Absolutely fantastic news! We are all overjoyed here. The boys clearly did really well seeking higher ground. Look how close to the waters edge they are sitting. Keep pumping the water out of the caves at full speed!

Absolutely fantastic news, woke up with my wife shouting look at this boys found.

Well done rescures, well done cooks everybody involved.

Absolutely fantastic news to wake up to! I’m actually shedding tears.

The sheer magnitude and difficulty of this operation leaves me in awe of what can be achieved when we as humans pull together and give it everything we’ve got.

I really don’t have the words to articulate how I feel. Almost speechless

13 new superstars and a huge supporting cast!

Bloody awesome to the nth degree.

Wonderful! But soon must come the investigation as to why, during an active rainy season with downpours forecasted, and without proper training, they were allowed or decided to go cave exploring.

Amazing effort, my wife was literally in tears. I found out before her... Thanks TVF! But can I take it from this video then that the Brits got there before the SEALS? End of the day makes zero difference just thought it strange the video was in English.

Let's just say that the divers who found them were English, working as part of a Thai Navy led team, with participants from umpteen countries.

It is wonderful news, thank God.

Bl**dy backpackers, get everywhere! I expect that they got their diving certificates on the Koh Sahn Road!

?

Seemingly this should have been all in a day's work for the British team that found them. These guys are not of this world!

I stumbled across this article about one of the divers :

http://cavingnews.com/20130103-buckingham-palace-recognizes-top-english-cave-diver-richard-stanton-mbe

"In 2011, Stanton was voted Hero of the Year by his firefighter colleagues during their Aspire Awards ceremony. "

"It isn’t particularly unusual for me to get official looking letters in the post because of my international rescue work, but when I got notification of this on behalf of the Palace I was absolutely astounded. I’m just doing work I enjoy to the best of my ability, but I’m thrilled to be awarded the MBE."

Looks like they got the right men for the job.

Great work all round, fantastic team effort. Amazing how strong the little guys still look, I thought when they found them they would be much weaker, these little guys are bulletproof!!!

I'm waiting anxiously for the video of them being re-united with their families, It's going to be tearful, no matter who you are.

These guys have helped remind the world of what humans can achieve when we work together..
