After Trump hails release of Thai kids, netizens ask: what about immigrant children?

Donald Trump's tweets in response to the rescue of 12 children from a Chiang Rai cave have drawn scorn, with netizens slamming the US president for being "ignorant to domestically detained immigrant children".

 

Trump’s tweet on Tuesday at 7.39 pm, Thai time, says: “On behalf of the United States, congratulations to the Thai Navy SEALs and all on the successful rescue of the 12 boys and their coach from the treacherous cave in Thailand. Such a beautiful moment - all freed, great job!"

 

Despite the positive tone, followers of Trump's personal account @realDonaldTrump raged at what they said was hypocrisy given ongoing immigrant detentions in four US states bordering Mexico.

 

A crackdown on illegal immigration at the US border has stirred controversy around the world for a detention policy of separating children from their immigrating parents without measures in place to eventually reunite them. A request by the Trump administration to allow long-term detention of illegal immigrant children was rejected by a federal judge on Monday.

 

"Great news!! Congrats to all of the Thai parents who have been reunited with their children," tweeted Holly Figueroa O'Reilly, a Trump critic who once won a legal case over the president blocking her on Twitter.

 

"Time for you to do the same at our border." O'Reilly added.

 

On Sunday, Trump drew an avalanche of criticism when he tweeted, "The U.S. is working very closely with the Government of Thailand to help get all of the children out of the cave and to safety. Very brave and talented people!" Netizens quickly accused the famously publicity-hungry president of exploiting the drama, calling him a “PR freerider" cashing in on US-based tech tycoon Elon Musk's vows to assist with the rescue operation in Chiang Rai.

Never thought the day would come, when I actually agree with the netizens. So, what about it Mr. Trump? How are you going to sneak and lingure your way out of this one? I guess a snake always finds it´s way.

If Trump found the cure for cancer "Trump Derangement Syndrome" would still have people complaining that he is racist towards cancer.

All the vicitmologists out there will use anything to further their woeful causes against you. It is a shame they cannot lift themselves out of their irrational hatred long enough to agree with you. This journalist from The Nation with this selective obviously biased story is another Trump basher who is wasting his or her time, except to stir the pot.

Whatever Trump says to this world it's and empty speech bubble....same as he is in person! Empty and rotten!

You don't see that there's a comparison to be made between reuniting children with their parents on the one hand and forcibly separating them and keeping them apart, on the other?

How many children are separated from their families by the prison system?

How many children are ripped from their mothers womb by planned parenthood?

Why are people so worried about protecting children from being trafficked, being kept safe, have healthy food, education, medical, but no one thinks about the homeless American adults and children living on America's streets.

There has been a 314% INCREASE in adults arriving at the border with kids they are not NOT related to! That is not a family. That is child trafficking!

And who are the netizens???

If you agree with the "netizens" you surely are blind to the fact the children from the cave were in danger of their lives, while the children in the camps are illegally in in the US, maybe accompanied by adults that might be or not their parents who also crossed the border illegally, and are far from being in a lifethreatening situation.

Maybe it also could cross your mind that the "import" of illegal children might be, as happens in Europe, a PR play of smugglers?

Because if a child may stay, the "parents" may also stay.

You certainly have not the foggiest idea how detestable those smugglers are.

They will do anything to get money, because they know there are always "softies" who will fall for their schemes.

In short, Trump has nothing to explain, most certainly not to people who are, ehhh, slightly, ehhhh, stupid?

So tired of the trump cheerleaders and the anti trump cheerleaders squabble like spoiled kids. Serves no useful purpose other than to cheer for your team.  Give me someone who politely agrees or disagrees and sticks to facts or theories and not personal attacks.  We all have different ideas and values and that is ok. Don’t have to choose sides and become followers of any man or woman. 

It's not complicated, you just release them back to whence they came. If necessary, give them push bikes and a couple of Big Macs to start them on their way.

I don't really see the relationship between congratulating Thailand for a happy ending to the cave drama and stopping illegal aliens from entering the U.s.A.

The people who entered the U.S. with their children were warned that they would be taken away from them under the new rules. Trump is a strong and forceful leader that fullfils his promises: they were forewarned. Although I feel sorry for the children in question, it is their parents who I blame for their current predicament.

Children were used more and more to enable an illegal stay in America: that time has now passed.

No doubt in Europe the same path will be followed in the near future. No welfare state can allow this illegal immigration to go on without loosing its own existence.

They are not all Legal Thais, at least three of the kids, and the coach,  are stateless non Thais.

I’m not a huge fan of Trump BUT... “fair suck of the Sav “ there is No Comparison with Illegal Imigrant Children  who are dragged into the US by alleged Parents, along with Child Traffickers and other assorted “Bags of Puke .”

 

The people dragging the kids over the Border are committing a Criminal Act.

 

Just try illegaly entering Thailand or any other Country and YOU’ll quite rightly, be either “booted back over the border” or LOCKED-UP and, surprise, surprise, if you have children with you....They’ll be Taken From You and...”Heaven forbid,” instead of being provided Five-Star Accommodation at “Disney World,” they too will be placed in the care, if lucky, of that Country’s Child Protection Authority.

90% of children at the border are unaccompanied, so they aren't being separated from parents - their parents sent them. In fact, it's left wing policies like welfare and catch & release that are separating kids from parents - they know that there's a good chance the kids they send alone will get into America and get free stuff, so they send the kids off. Terrible. If we removed that incentive, those kids wouldn't be sent off, often getting raped en route.

No, but that is because I can also distinguish between the "reuniting children" having had bad luck with their supervisor doing something legal within their (own) country and "forcibly separating children" having bad luck with their supervisors doing something illegal in a country that they are attempting to enter.

 

Nevermind the child trafficking that is happening. No, I cannot produce you the evidence for that nor any numbers for that matter, I've been on the planet long enough though.

Immigrant children Do belong with their parents, as they are escorted back across the border and told to go back to where they come from. no deportation center, no bed and bunk, just turn their asses around immediately!Just try that crap in any other country especially in thailand and see where you wound up! they are NOT fleeing warfare , they are coming for jobs, welfare and to better themselves at the expense of law abiding Americans. you clowns who have so much hatred of President Trump cannot see past your noses as to what is legal and illegal.

That´s not the object here. The object is the ones that is separated.
