Hanging wires: An accident waiting to happen as villagers name and shame

Villagers in Ubon have gone to the Thai media to name and shame their local authority who have ignored their pleas to do something about a bunch of hanging wires.

The telephone and other cables are about adult head height leading to the village in Khemmarat sub district of Khemmarat district in the north eastern Thai province.

Taller vehicles such as school bus transport, minivans and six wheel trucks can't get through at all.

Assistant to the phu yai ban Suwit Kosa said that phone calls over the last year to the local authority had all been met with indifference and inaction.

He called it a dangerous situation especially for students.

So they went to Thai media Sanook who showed many of the local kids with the offending wires.

Love the measure tape ? Brave kids, wouldn't touch those wires even with a 10 foot long pole.

But why do they need to buy such a high car? Otherwise the hight seem to fit most of the village population.

Eeeh??? How would that be? According to me a student would have easier to see the wires, than 91 year old granpa on his bicycle.

Never touch wires: warning graphic video -

I would have put two concrete poles long time ago. Cost maybe 500 Baht instead of waiting an accident to happen or to be without electricity or Internet.

OK so the wires are too low, why wait until somebody gets hurt or killed.

Villagers all over use bamboo poles to lift the wires, so why cant they do it?

I don't know what it is but there is something so Thai about having your pic taken holding a tape measure.   What ever the reading is the blasted cables are too blasted low.

Blast , wound myself up now , must make another cuppa.

We had a fellow killed down the road from us. He was working on ahouse walking the roof beams must have lost balance and reached out and grabbed the electrical wires overhead.

That is one way to knock the stupid out of you permanently.

5.5m above a carriageway 6.5 m high load route 1.5m for buffalos and headless chickens.
