Not in Hot Water

Featured Replies

For years, the thought of putting a jacuzzi/bathtub in my house has been on the to do list. I'm now at that point in life, that perhaps it might happen. But here is the problem.  Currently, we have the typical electrical shower unit and it is just not tough enough as the water gets cold before the tub fills up. I have been thinking about installing a gas powered shower unit to meet the demand.

Any suggestions?

It seems you have a hot water heater that has a tank.

If you had a point of use heater you would never run out of hot water.

i think a gas powered heater is a good idea.

The two main issues I see are that a bath/ jacuzxi has a large surface area to heat up and initially all it will do is reduce thr temperature of the water.

With 3.6or 4.2kw electric showers you havr no chance.

A start would be a 8kw multipoint such as a Steibel which would get the water hot enough.

This brings me to the second concern, the flow rate. Its no use having scalding water if you cant drive it through 22mm pipes to a jacuzzzi. It will go cold yet again and you will get bored of waiting.

There are of course expensive hot water cylinders available which i am sure someone with experience of can advise

Yes, a gas heater will give lashings of hot (very) water.

Please ensure it's installed correctly with proper ventilation for safety.

This is what we have, works fine - though slow to fill & very slow during the Isan winter ?
