Truck driver crushed to death as dump falls on him in Ratchaburi

Ban Pong police were called to a cow rearing facility in Ratchaburi yesterday after a dump fell on a worker doing repairs.

 

Fifty two year old Sompong Nokdam was found between the chassis and the dump section crushed to death.

 

He had massive head trauma and there was a lot of blood and brain matter at the scene of the horrific accident, reported Daily News.

 

Police were told that Sompong and made a delivery of animal feed from Kanchanaburi and had deposited his load successfully in a pile behind his truck.

 

However, the mechanism then jammed and he was bashing a part of it with a hammer when it fell on him.

I somehow suspect then that he was ignoring the standard procedure for rectifying the problem. Harsh, but he brought this down upon himself, when doing it the way the manual prescribes might have taken a few minutes longer, but he would still be alive.

RIP that man.   Sadly it was the usual Thai approach to Health&Safety,  just needed a couple of props carefully inserted but looking at the picture it seems they never learn, because the Guy under the truck body is not exactly in a safe position when he knows what has just happened !

It is a case of "The truck bashes back".

Common Sense out the window. 

Surprising incident? majority of the trucks on the roads are usually quite, non polluting & well maintained, driven by polite community minded individuals!
