Over 90 percent of first-time voters and veteran voters said in a poll that they attach top priority to the integrity and ethics of candidates in next elections.

According to Suan Dusit Poll, 69.87 percent of first-time voters said they will definitely go to the polls on the election day while 84.7 percent of the experienced voters said they will definitely. Suan Dusit Poll of Suan Dusit University conducted a random opinion survey on 1,083 individuals who are first-time voters and those who have previous voting experiences about the next election.

The poll results show 93.47 percent of first-time voters and 93.33 percent of experienced voters attach importance on the integrity, honesty and ethics of the candidates as first priority;  89.14 percent of first-time voters and 89.28 percent of experienced voters attach importance to capability and resourcefulness as second priority; party policies ranks third with 85.26 percent of first-time voters and 85.64 percent of experienced voters; work performance record ranks fourth with 84.27 percent of first-time voters and 83.08 percent of experienced voters.

100% of respondents in my house believe that Thais will be disappointed with the honesty, integrity and ethics of their candidates.

  • If Thai 'voters' (as if such a thing could genuinely be allowed under the junta) are expecting integrity, they will have a very, very, VERY long wait ...

  • And the other 10% belong to the Elite and/or members of the the current administration who have already ripped this country off and don't give a damn what happens anyway as they are safe and protected

I am sure a bank note of the right denomination will help them chose the the right candidate...

Sincere honesty lays in the biggest amout the one who wants to be elected gives the one who votes.

Surely they jest? Integrity meaning:

....honesty, uprightness, probity, rectitude, honour, honourableness, upstanding, good character, principle(s), ethics, morals, righteousness, morality, right-mindedness, virtue, decency, fairness, scrupulousness, sincerity, truthfulness,

trustworthiness.

What ambitious hopes people have.

Was it John Cleese who said, of Thai polls, they are 'the master of the bleedin' obvious.'

Of course that's what every voter wants;, but it isn't what they're going to get.

The best leaders do nothing and let the country get on with its business.  Too much government, like the interfering fragile egos running the country now, are what you do not want.   Had Yingluck done nothing, the country would be great shape.

Of course integrity is the top priority. If the candidate promises 500 baht for a vote, they want to make sure the receive it.

OK,  so none of those surveyed  will be taking a bribe of 300 baht + some free Thai pop star CD,s come the next election?

I tried to look up the words in my "English/Thai dictionary for Politician"...

Finally something we can agree on 100%

yet they have voted for ptp and dems, they must have a very strange understanding of what they are saying or maybe as mentioned they only say that until they get their money

Doesn't matter. The bigshot will tell you who has integrity if you like it or not. And the voting is a façade anyway, so another doesn't matter again.

I can't blame them for voting PTP and Democrats.. there were not many other options. That is the problem... lack of good options.

Hope is just about all they do have as they have little else !

No such thing as a politician with integrity. 2 words are mutually exclusive. I suppose ghandi and maybe  mandela had some altruism

The average joe on here will still attribute qualities to people and institutions in good old back home that have never existed.

Usa and brit politicians make thai politicians lool like absolute rank amateurs when it comes to lies, deceit, corruption etc.

Only have to look at the POTUS.

You can buy "integrity"? :whistling:

Just thinking.

There will be even less at the next election.

Except for those who made bank off the rice fiasco....

Integrity here means I give you credit, pay later. Never seen integrity here.

That will be the time Prayut announced the election date. Lesson learned from Cambodia.

Have over 90% already been corrupted looking for integrity and ethics in the candidates ?

I like future forward.. seems like a good option.. not realistic that they will win.. but if enough vote for him he might get even more next time.

I wonder if the candidates think the same way after the election?

Sounds like there could be some major changes in the Thai political arena. Next all of the shifty candidates will be trying to convince voters that they are of the highest moral character. This could actually be rather comical to watch if it wasn't so potentially frightening if they succeed in pulling off the charade. Of course, there will be only one that has enough time to campaign long enough to really change minds, but he has really dug a deep hole to try to crawl out of  in this respect.

I think guns and tanks and soldiers will be the most important factor for winning the next election.

Did anyone mention policies? What the candidates are standing for? Or could it be integral not integrity that has been misquoted. Candidates find it integral to follow what has gone before them. It is integral that tea money still comes in. It is integral that more O/S tours be held to keep 1st and 2nd wives happy. I think u get the picture now about politics. There are some very good Thai politicians, but some stretch their boundaries.
