about a year ago I was on a motorcycle ride, and rode on highway 12 from Tak to Mae Sot. At that time the construction made for very unpleasant ride. 

I was wondering if anyone has been on this road recently and if so, what the status of the construction?

In places it's still rubbish but they are getting there. Albeit it'll take another several months to complete. If you don't have to go yet don't.

Been riding that route for years going immigration it's been improved in mountain stretches which are great and there still improving it but never found it unpleasant or a problem on a motorcycle.

Drove the whole length last month.

About two thirds done . Should be finished next year. Until then there are a few rough and muddy patches.

 

When it is finished it will be a big improvement with a lot more viewing points than before.
