Help! Bike suddenly stopped....

(The pilot jet blockage makes absolute sense - the bike was running fine at medium/high speeds ==> main jet.  I slowed down at a corner and the bike spluttered to a stop ==> using the pilot jet at low speeds.)

I'm aware of how the different jets work. You should be able to start it even with a blocked pilot jet, by using 1/2 to 3/4 of throttle and choke.

 

As you wrote before; spark plug is dry after start attempts, but will start i you pour petrol through the spark plug hole.

 

The petrol is simply not moving anywhere from the float chamber due to blockage.

Bit late to the party.

I see people have mentioned the timing slipped on page 1.

Has the OP actually removed a stator cover (no oil in there so don't be scared) and checked to see if the stator or rotor has sheared a key and has moved or is moving on the shaft (either straight or tapered)?

 Quite common on these type of machines.

   My 2 bahts worth. Without having the bike in front of me....

Pouring benzin in the sparkplug hole and the engine starts according to OP. That should indicate that there's nothing wrong with timing issues.

Obviously it's nice to be able to solve a problem like they all by yourself.

But I am surprised that you don't look for an experienced mechanic.

That bike has a carburetor and lots of old fashioned technology. Nobody needs a computer to fix it.

Last time I was in Myanmar (a couple of years ago) there were huge amounts of old cars and bikes - and only old cars and bikes.

There must be lots of specialist who are used to old fashioned technology in "old" bikes.

When fuel is poured in,does it start and run, or just "catch" for a few seconds. If it just briefly fires, try spraying carb clean - if you can get it or similar - into the intake. The spray will act as a substitute carb. If it runs correctly,  it's a blockage from float bowl to jets/emulsion tubes. If it only catches,  it confirmes a spark, but not necessarily at the correct time. Timing may be out due to faulty CDI, or valve timing may be out due to timing chain jumping a / some teeth on the crank or camshaft sprockets. Keeping it simple,  have you get a replacement spark plug.  And double check side stand and kill switch.
