Waterproofing Shower Floor Tiles

Recommended Posts

The grouting between my shower floor tiles disintigrated.

I just want to do a quick patch up job. I walked into home pro but did not know exactly what to get. I figure one of those caulking guns and silicone caulking?

A picture of what i need would help a bunch if possible. Thank you!

It sounds like you don't have experience in this.  While I like to DIY, working with tile grout is not one I would feel comfortable doing from a cold start.  I'm pretty sure you don't want to use silicone.  My suggestion is to find someone experienced with bath tile and let him - often a her - to take care of it.  That should not be hard to find and not expensive (unless you need a complete overhaul.)

Go on YouTube and look for grouting tiles - silicon is only for breast implants and corner joints

Basically you mix the grout with water - apply it with a rubber spatula - let it dry enough so that you can wipe excess off with a moist sponge - then polish up - you should find a more detailed explanation on YouTube - get grout for swimming pools

I actually did that. Ironically they mentioned they were going to put silicon in there (instead of taking up the tiles like i thought they should do).

When i heard that i figured anyone can do this. I do not believe they were going to use grout. Originally it was silicon and they mentioned silicone.

Anyway, i will look for the grout. This cant be all that difficult.

thanks for the replies!
