Banglamung patrol officers get flak jackets

PATTAYA:--The National Police Board of Banglamung gave 60 flak jackets valued at 72,000 baht to patrol officers considered to be at risk.

Deputy chief Pol. Lt. Col. Daranpob Srathongyu accepted the bullet-proof vests from Pairoj Prawatlertudom, chairman of the National Police Board of Banglamung.

Pairoj said funds for the jackets came from various police board activities after learning many officers lacked proper safety gear while on duty.

With the heat it Thailand, id rather take my chances.

Were they asked to sign a form stating they will not sell it to any journalists on their way to report from war zones?

The only "risk" the officers in the pic would face, is dying of old age.

At 1,200 THB each, it is unlikely that they will stop a 'paint ball' at 50 paces let alone a 9mm bullet.  I hope they are also give a free amulet.

Chinese fakes

When I read the title I thought that maybe the police had finally woken up to the fact that the police are finally getting tired of people complaining about the corruption of the police and they needed protection from the "flak" the public were throwing at them.

'nuf sed

They deservedly cop a lot of flak from the exploited public.  The police should face it without free handouts.

well the local BiB do get a lot of flack...

Just had a look on line. here in the UK new ones start at £150 (6,000B) upwards.

Whatever happened to the much-trumpeted Thai silk flak jackets? Someone lost an opportunity there.

And talking about opportunities ... maybe I'll try to sell steel-capped shoes to the traffic police because of the dangers of their feet being run over by drunk motorists, or motorists who don't get the correct answer to the question: "DO YOU KNOWWWW WHO I - I - I - I - AM?"

Oh..so that was the problem...now we will see a true days work from these officers while on duty...

These will come in handy and compliment their automatic weaponry when raiding Pattaya's senior citizens bridge club games, beer bar darts competitions and swingers parties held in private homes.
