Pattaya Vegetarian Festival opens Oct. 8

PATTAYA:--The Pattaya Vegetarian Festival turns back up the heat after a quiet event in 2017, kicking off Oct. 8 in Naklua.

Last year’s festival intentionally was a bit blander than normal, with organizers cutting out entertainment during the end of the royal mourning period.

This year’s 10-day event will return to normal at the Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Foundation, starting with a ceremony to invite the Chinese gods to the party on kickoff day.

A parade starting at 2:29 p.m. will snake its sway through Naklua and Pattaya, passing Wuthi Kha Watsadu, Sukhumvit Road, Sawangfa Road, Naklua New Market, the Old Market, Lan Po Public Park and to Pattaya Beach where a ceremony will be held to honor Kiew Hong Huk Jow, the Nine Emperor Gods and Bodhisattva.

On Oct. 9 more Emperor Gods’ ceremonies kick off at 7:19 a.m. while the Keng Ju Team will chant and perform an incense walk in the evening.

On Oct. 11 “Kee Yig Vegetarian Day” will see a respect ceremony in the morning and the Keng Ju chanting in the evening.

I only eat something if it flies, runs, swims, or is green. Going vegetarian is just too much for me. No need for me to attend. Look for me in LK Metro.

It could be a interesting way to kill a few hours.

There are more interesting ways to kill a few hours in Pattaya. Try Soi 6 after dark for starters, or if you are otherwise inclined then Boyz Town or perhaps Walking Street after 3 am. Let the good times roll!

Vegetarians are boring people; believe me. Vegetarians and sex are not a good mix.

What is it with all the 'precise' times.  Has anyone seen anything start as scheduled?
