Well, there goes the tourism industry from Moldova to KT...

How will KT ever survive???   :cheesy:

Maybe the TAT can start handing out little cards to the tourists that arrive on the island... Something like... "Please don't die HERE!"

Of course they had to be foreign pharmaceutical drugs as everyone knows to buy the more expensive ones from your own country before coming to Thailand where they are cheaper.

Well - that's not correct....

Moldova is no 55 of the poorest countries in the world and Thailand no 117 so we can assume that it was cheaper in Moldova...

It certainly works-up to its reputation "The Island of Death"...
Can't imagine why people still go there, nor can't understand why the island is not shut down by the authorities...

Probably because of the money from massive amounts of tourists that go there every year and survive. Also lack of evidence, you know, not rumours and speculation. Also, useless police force on that island. Thailand is not known for its ability to control it's police forces.

My first thought: finally they decided to adopt a serious approach to this endless list of dead bodies found on KT by having the job done "better" in BKK

2nd thought: it looks like they waited until a possibly genuine suicide took place in order to organize a large, publicized show in order to try to whitewash past botched investigations

(if the report of clothes, shoes, ID and phone being found together at the beach - with no obvious signs of foul play - is correct, we may have the first credible suicide case on this island)

Your 2nd thought was what I thought immediately. All for show when this seems obvious that drowning was the cause here.

Plenty of posts because it is Kho Tao. Not one post on the body of a foreigner found floating off Phuket today.

Not unexpected -

but anyway I believe that even on Koh Tao people might dy by accident - sometimes

People drown everyday in the ocean around the world. Many go unreported.

Hopefully there will be no interference by "other stakeholders" in this investigation. And Thai people seem to be surprised when the words "Death Island" get mentioned....!

Yes probably accidental drowning and not suicide or foul-play.  I used to be a good swimmer but a few years ago I almost drowned when swimming from a boat to the shore which despite my chronic bronchitis looked doable. But there were some unexpected strong currents... RIP

RIP currents......

Probably because this article is highlighted at the top to make it stand out.  But the body found in Phuket is far more suspicious.  From the article - "The body was retrieved from the water and brought to the beach. Bruise wounds were found on the man’s neck and blood was also coming out of his ears. His body was taken to Thalang Hospital for further examination to find the cause of death."

I was lucky I went to the island in 2004 when it was nice and well kind of safe

Now its a lawless island and as usual blame the farang and protect the criminals
