Hospital Charges

Featured Replies

I am planning to have a colonoscopy in the next month. Any idea what I might expect to pay and any advice on checking that the hospital are competent to perform the procedure.

A search should bring up a range of prices as has been reported here many times.  Just be aware some prices will not include any biopsy and they can be rather expensive - others seem to quote an all inclusive price.  You might want to provide a location for recommendations.

Costs will vary greatly depending on the hospital. Government hospitals will be the least costly.

The competancy issue is not with the hospital but rather the doctor who performs it. Note that in most hospitals you cannot just request this test and walk in and get it, you have to first have a consultation with a doctor who must then order it.

As a general indication of cost at private hospitals:

BPH had a price of 26K through last June but not all inclusive.

PIH is currently offering 24K but this does not include biopsy of any lesions/polyps removed. It sounds like it is otherwise all inclusive but should check, specifically that it includes anesthesia and removal (but not path charges) of any polyps.

You can get a quote for Phyathai Sri Racha by emailing [email protected]

In terms of doctors, Prof. Varocha Mahachai at BPH is one of the best GI specialists in Thailand. There on Sundays only, otherwise she works in Bangkok.
