Social Security

Featured Replies

I have social security in Thailand, if I am expecting a child here with my Thai Husband should I go to the nearest office to inform them about my pregnancy or after the birth of my child, to receive my rights of the social security ? any information would be very helpful . Thanks.

Hi

Not a woman, but normally when you are at your registered hospital the expenses will be directly claimed by the hospital at SS

So I don't see the need to inform them and receive rights....

Just talk to the insurance help desk in the hospital, they have dealt with it before

In addition to the costs associated with the delivery there is a lump sum benefit under SS  equal to 50% of wages for an additional 45 days if leave is taken from work beyond the 45 days given with full pay under Thai law. Maybe that is what she means.

Most people apply for that after delivery, especially since it kicks in only after the 1st 45 days are up.

Thank you both for the information,

Ok so after my baby delivery to receive the lump sum would I also need to go and apply for this too or should I get this automatically from the help of my employer?

You need to apply for it. It's not given automatically.

You can claim a lump sum and also a payment of 400 baht per month until the child is 7.
