I am running a homebridge server to control lights and fans around the house via various mobile apple devices. When I checked the ‘home’ app, it turns out I can also run the app on an Apple TV.

 

I need some device that has a mains feed over mobile devices and would rather not buy one of those overpriced HomePod things.

 

What other use would I have for one over here? I stream media from my Synology NAS direct to app on TV, which also has YouTube.

 

It’s a bit of rigging, I can get BBC iplayer, It seems I need to be in the US or UK to get the most benefit, I’m not interested in Netflix.

 

What are the other benefits of the Apple TV? Anyone?
