CHIANG MAI, 3 November 2018 (NNT) - Chiang Mai province has been prepared to accommodate more visitors during high tourism season with aim to create good impressions upon their arrival.

Vice Chiang Mai Provincial Governor Komsun Suwanampha said the northern province has joined hands with the private sector to hold welcoming activities for visitors at key tourism attractions and transit stations, as part of the peak tourism season welcoming campaign held for the second year.

The campaign is aimed to create good impressions among international visitors visiting the province, and to encourage local people and businesses to become good hosts for the tourists, in order to impress visitors as soon as they arrive, and make them want to come back again.

The activities will be held on 19-20 November 2018 at Chiang Mai international airport during Yi Peng festival, followed by a tourism promotion event on 21-22 November 2018 at Meya Chiang Mai shopping center featuring cultural performances and handicraft workshops in which visitors can participate, welcoming activities on 24 November 2018 at Chiang Mai Night Safari, on 27-28 November 2017 at Arcade 2 Bus Terminal, and on 30 November - 1 December 2018 at Chiang Mai railway station.

Online campaign has been launched where social media users can put a frame on their profile picture to express their love of Chiang Mai and share on Chiangmainess fanpage to win prizes.

They should be prepared as it happens every year!

The most singular act to welcome the foreign tourist while showing them respect rather than discrimination would be to eliminate the unfair and insulting dual charges levied at various parks, museums and other public attractions. For example the Thai entry fee of one-third or less than that charged the 'farang'. It seems that the Thai government recognizes how much 'farang' tourists and long-time foreign residents contribute to the Thai economy. Then why the insulting treatment of those benefactors? Yes, we are free not pay the

exorbitant higher fee and many of us do so decline. It is noted that many of the posted entry fees display the Thai fee in Thai and the foreigners fee in English so most would not know he or she is being ripped off.

* Will they be activating the police force to enforce the traffic rules to make the roads safer?

* Will they be fixing the footpaths/sidewalks in Nimmanhaemin Road to prevent people tripping and suffering broken bones and other injury?

* Will they be doing anything about the unsightly coils of hanging electrical and communication cables?

* Will they be purging government departments of incompetent managers?

Can't wait for some more taxi drivers to pull out machetes and threaten Grab drivers and their foreigner riders with violence after they have waded though a glacially slow immigration queue at the airport.  Then finally arriving at the hotel.
"God, after that I need a beer!  Room service, can I get a beer please?"
-- Solly.  After 2 pm.  You no buy beer now.  Wait three hour.  No beer now.
Welcome to Chiang Mai, Thailand.

I have a suggestion for you if you think it is not enough.

Why don't you go to the airport and welcome all the incoming tourists with a handshake and a smile.

Maybe even a large sign in various languages expressing a big welcome.

I am sure it will make them and you feel better.

Hope to see you there after I arrive....
